How much to guests ACTUALLY care about chairs?

I'm not personally a fan of chavari chairs for several reasons even though they're super popular, but I also know that a plain plastic folding char is super cheap and tacky. I love the look of wooden farm chairs, but they also cost quite a bit to rent. I'm thinking of going with the white padded wooden folding chairs for both the ceremony and reception even though they aren't my favorite. I know I personally like farm chairs better - but is it worth the money if no one will really be paying attention to the chairs?

@Muriel - you make me laugh every time you post. I want to be your friend. Smiley smile That said... As long as everyone has a seat, I'm happy.

The only time chairs at a wedding are an issue is when a bride/groom suggests that some butts don't need a landing pad because, you know, it's expensive to rent chairs, and a bunch of guests can just stand because their ceremony is only half an hour, blah, blah, blah. That's an issue.

What kind of chairs you provide don't matter -- as long as they are in reasonably good condition and are the same color/style. Don't sweat this. One per person -- that's your goal.

IMO I think chairs make a huge difference on how your venue looks. I personally got the chavari chairs because of the look I wanted that wouldn't look okay with any other chair style except for the chavari. But I do like the white ones. They're simple but pretty.

Quite a bit. Wooden chairs are the only way to go.

I agree with previous posters - I don't think I remember any chairs from weddings

We didn't spend any money on our chairs, and no one noticed. They were just plain chairs. Use your money elsewhere!

Save money! Guests *usually* don't care about how a chair looks. Of course you have those boujee people, but for the most part they're there for you guys, food, drinks and dancing!

I personally don't give a damn about chairs, as long as I have one Smiley smile

Guests don't care unless they can have a seat on the other hand brides care because it can make an impact on the look of your decor

I would just go with white. My venue comes with ugly plastic folding chairs for the reception but it isn't worth the extra money to switch them out

You're right, I doubt guests care about the chairs other than comfort. I have heard that bigger people don't like the chairs like your white ones, bc there's not enough space for them to sit back... just something to consider.

Guests won't care. I would just be particular about the chair color for the sake of photos.

We are very happily using tacky ass metal folding chairs for a $1 a piece. All anyone coming to our wedding cares about us having a place to park their butt. I'm sure that's the case for you too OP. Get whatever chairs you like.

Guests don't care about the chair at all, but I think it's the bride that may care about the look of the chair in overall decor.

No one cares and no one notices unless they are horrifying.

A few things that I never remember from a wedding:

    1) Centerpieces...I only know that there was something there.

    2) Type of chairs...the only time I remember the bride had chosen chivari chairs was because my purse kept falling through the back of the chair where there was an opening.

    3) Any special tablecloths and napkins

I don't care what it looks like as long as it's comfortable and not wobbly.

I would just sit in the chairs and go with the cheapest comfortable option. No one cares unless it's uncomfortable. At a short ceremony it won't matter much, but a long reception it'll be a huge pain for anyone sitting most of the night.
