How much to guests ACTUALLY care about chairs?

I love the look of wooden farm chairs, but they also cost quite a bit to rent. I'm thinking of going with the white padded wooden folding chairs for both the ceremony and reception even though they aren't my favorite. I know I personally like farm chairs better - but is it worth the money if no one will really be paying attention to the chairs?

I love chavari chairs but couldn't justify $7 a piece to rent through my venue. My DOC also said that they are never more comfortable with the other chairs they offer. It will have to be those with chair covers for me.

I was wondering this too because my venue has white plastic chairs for the reception which I think looks SO CHEAP in photos so I'm renting white wooden...but ceremony outside might just use their folding chairs to save $$ plus most ceremony pics will be of us not the chairs

My opinion on this is why pay extra money for something people likely will fart on.

ETA: the white folding/cushioned garden chairs will be a perfectly fine and cost efficient compromise. they will look lovely, i promise.

Comfort is all that matters to me. Personally, for my wedding, I'd prefer not to have the cheap metal folding chairs, but the white ones are cute!

As long as I have somewhere to sit that are not uncomfortable I don't care what the chair looks like. I agree with PP's who have said they don't remember the chairs at any wedding.

As long as there is a back to the chair and there are enough chairs for everyone to sit, I don't care.

I don't care about any of these types of details. I don't think anyone does.

No one cares about chairs, except for having a seat to sit their butt in!

People only really care or notice if they are uncomfortable.

I do like the look of chiavari chairs, but I also find them rather uncomfortable and as I have some family members with hip and back issues and limited mobility, I opted to go with the slightly less attractive but well-cushioned green chairs that go with the venue. It also felt like an easy place to avoid spending money -- I'm fairly confident that although yes our pics of the venue would look snazzier with chiavari, our guests will be happy with their comfier chairs.

Sturdy cushioned chair with a cushioned back is my preference. Not a fan of folding chairs, but as long as they're not rickety or unstable for larger guests, those white cushioned ones look fine.

I think either of those chairs would be fine. Just pick the cheaper one.

I was really into the chavari chairs when I began wedding planning, but after seeing the rental price per chair I decided there were more important things I wanted to spend the money on

We had the ugliest chairs possible (I swear, they were UGLY!). After the fact, when we've talked to guests about décor, etc, none of them even remembered what the chairs looked like, only that they were comfy and there were enough of them.

I really prefer the white ones. I don't even know what chairs are used in any wedding I've been to.

I think as long as each guest has a chair to sit in that is reasonably comfortable it's fine.

I think if they are neutral then go with almost any of them. I have to order chair covers because my venue has god awful burgundy waiting room chairs for their tables.

I'll tell you this - I cannot for the life of me remember a single chair I sat in at a wedding.

Hah, I'm in the minority probably, but I totally remember uncomfortable chairs from weddings. I dislike those white chairs, BUT I would not think anything less of the couple for having them and it wouldn't hurt my overall experience. I would mostly just grumble to myself that I dislike those chairs and move on with my life. I say do the white chairs as someone that doesn't even like them!

I don't think it matters. I have never been to a wedding & remembered chairs, carpet, curtains or wallpaper. Guests care about having fun & a great time (ceremony too of course). A long as they are both sturdy, I'd go for the cheaper one.
