How much time did you take off around your wedding?

m, on February 3, 2015 at 9:09 AM Posted in Planning 0 76

I am at a new job, and get only 5 days vacation this year. I have had to use two of them already - one for Thanksgiving weekend, and one for my younger sister's engagement (I flew home). I will have three days left to use around the wedding, on a Saturday & local.

Should I talk to my boss about getting the entire week off, even if two are unpaid?

We will not be going on a honeymoon right away, and my time off resets in October.

I'm worried I may regret being rushed, or just not paying attention at work that week!

I'm only taking the two days before off, and that includes flying from Nebraska to FL. I'm flying back to Nebraska the Sunday after. I really can't take any more off.

How DIY is your wedding? In your shoes, I think I'd take Friday. My wedding is out of town and I'm taking a half day tomorrow when we'll travel, then have Thursday to run around. Friday is packed with activities.

I checked out mentally yesterday, so as long as your job isn't a life-saving profession, don't even worry about it.

I'm taking Thursday/Friday off before the Sunday wedding. Then we're going on our HM right after & that will be 2 more weeks.

It depends on how much vacation time I have when it gets closer. As of now I intend to take wed-fri for a Saturday wedding that is local. If I have more time on top of our honeymoon I will take the whole week. I don't think I need it but I want to have lots of time for the last minute stuff.

I am taking off probably 2.5 days before the wedding and then 3 days after... mine is mainly to show my boss what it is I do for work since they have never done my job and act like it's easy... We aren't going on our honeymoon until next year.

If condo owners getting updates on their new dining furniture isn't lifesaving, I don't know what is.

It's not SUPER diy, and while it's local for me, its DW for everyone else. I have family coming in the Friday/Saturday before, and many friends making "a week of it," apparently.

For me PTO accrues @ a rate of 6hrs per pay period... I been doing pretty good with not taking off unless absolutely necessary in order to let it rack up. We're getting married on a sunday so I didnt request any days before...

Our company offers 3 days of paid Marriage leave so I requested those and Put in another 2 weeks for our honeymoon and setting up home. We have never lived together so the extra time will be to "unpack" and "fix" things in our new place.

I'm going to take off the Friday before. I'm off Saturday and Sunday anyway. Then I will be taking the following Thursday-Monday for my honeymoon.

I am having a destination wedding so I am trying to decide as well, I really want to take off the Friday before we fly out and the Monday after which would be 7 days.

We are having a dinner reception when we return and that's going to be on a Sunday. For that we will have a lot of DIY projects so I want to take off Friday-Monday.

All together that is a lot. I still have a while to decide Smiley smile

I was only going to take off the Friday before and the Monday after, I ended up taking Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Monday off. It was totally worth it. Even though 2 were also unpaid. I leave for Jamaica next Wednesday.

I took Thurs & Fri off. Wedding is Saturday & I will return to work Monday. Wedding is not a DW, but it 1.5 hours away, so I'm staying there Friday & Saturday night, return home on sunday. I have more time off, but Fh just started working again after being out, & he is onyl a Temp--so no time off, Plus I start traveling for Baseball right after the wedding & plan on using a lot of 1/2 days to travel... so no HM for us until November 2015 or later.

I am taking Thursday and Friday, and might try to swing part of Wednesday off as well (but we will see how that goes). If I were you, I would take off Thursday, Friday, and Monday, gives you two days to pull everything together, and then a day for a kinda mini-moon/time to decompress.

I only took off the day of the wedding and two days after (mixed with a holiday and a weekend) for our honeymoon.
