How much on average are y’all spending on your wedding venue?

Madison, on January 2, 2021 at 1:10 PM Posted in Planning 2 63
How much on average are y’all spending on your weddings? I’ve been planning for about a year now and am still nervous to book a place because of the cost. The location we found is $6000 and includes everything but floral and the actual wedding dress. That’s sounds like a great deal to me but I just want to be sure

$6000 *includes* food and booze?! That's a deal and a half!

If that $6000 includes the fee for your venue, your food, alcohol, tables, linens, decor, set up/teardown, music, officiant and wait staff... then that’s an insanely good deal!!

It's definitely dependent on location and type of venue. If your venue is basically all inclusive, $6k sounds pretty good. Our venue rental itself is $3,500. They also take care of catering and the bar so of course the cost went up accordingly. Luckily for us, they also have an inventory of rental items that we have full free access to that's helping us save.

I agree with this 100%. Honestly, even if it doesn't include music and officiant, it's still a fantastic deal

OP, a lot of this will also depend on where you are. For instance, I live in NJ, about 30 minutes out of NYC. Therefore, everything is outrageously expensive. Look at the average costs of weddings in your area. For NJ, the average wedding costs about $37,000 and we spent $23,000 because we were very frugal on things like decor and such. That's still an insane amount of money, but cheap for my area. If you live in a lower cost of living area, it'll be a lot less. However, I find it hard to imagine a place where $6,000 for all that would be overpriced.

If you look at a price list for rentals, where each fork, knife spoon, including extra for soup and salad, desserts and coffee , silverware can easily run $30-50 per person and $30 more for plates and bowls. Whether or not that is a great deal depends on whether you jave 40 people or $140 or 200 in that space.

If you would be spending $60 per person on tables, chairs, barware, extra tables for signature books, place cards, then adding tablecloths, then 100 people would justify that rental inclusive, before counting food and liquor. makes the $500 for the lovely places that boll for every bar staff and server, and all furniture and dishes and silver and napery seem no better.

There is really no way to answer this because so many factors are involved and it is never a simple one size fits all cost. Your location plays the biggest role. Major cities always cost more than rural. Then factor in the type of venue. All inclusive venues cost more than blank slates because they have bare minimum requirements that can be eliminated with a blank slate. Most venues have a set rental charge so there is not a per person fee unless you are doing all inclusive. Day of the week is the other big factor. Fridays and Saturdays are peak so they cost full price, where Sunday to Thursday you will get a discount. The same applies to certain months of the year. Popular months used to be summer but switched to fall, so venues are harder to come by at those times than the rest of the year.

This is very subjective. I, personally, wouldn't pay that much. If you can afford it and it's cheaper compared to venues in your local area then go for it

The cost for a venue greatly varies depending on location and what all they provide. You said they include everything, but does that include other vendors like DJ, photographer, hair and makeup, etc?

Our wedding venue was 10,250 and that included everything except my dress, any little extras we wanted, our groom and groomsmen suits and our bridesmaids dresses. We added on extra things but it was 7000 before we did for 50 people. I think depending on where you're located that's a good deal.

That’s exactly what I was looking for! The venue is limited to only 50 people and that was a huge drawback. Though would you say that’s normal for the cost?

It doesn’t include hair and makeup, but it does include a 6 minute firework show. I believe the only things it doesn’t include are
    Hair and makeup
    Attire Party Favors
