How much does the average person spend on their wedding?

Samantha, on September 15, 2019 at 7:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 38
I'm trying to set up a budget but I'm not sure how to figure out the price that we can afford for our wedding.

I believe the national average is $34k. Here in MD it's about the same cost, we're the 8th most expensive state to get married in the country.

We'll be coming in under those figures at $20k.

For us it will. Ive seen different ones that are cheaper to. For us we are doing it on our own in a beach house. But our budget will include all food decorations and what not. It is also including paying for all of our 25 guest a place to stay. Since I am getting a house big enough for everyone. I am actually paying for all the food and everything else for everyone except their transportation there and back

I wanted to spend $12k, but to have the things we want and get decent vendors it’s become more like $20k

Ours will be about $25k excluding the cost of the honeymoon. Much more than we anticipated; but we are allowing ourselves to splurge here and there. We are paying for it on our own.

Work out how much you can save per month until your wedding. If you have any savings you’re planning to use, add that. That amount is your budget. Don’t count on money from anyone else until it’s actually in your bank account - too many stories on here of couples who have been promised money, included it in their budget then it hasn’t come through so they’ve had to scramble to cover it or cut back on things.

We spent $13500 with 75 guests.

The average amount others spend on their wedding isn’t going to help you figure out how much you can afford. All things said and done, we are expecting to spend right around $25k. We decided how much we felt comfortable spending out of our current savings, then multiplied how much we could save each month by how many months we had until the wedding.

The average cost of wedding in Nashville (downtown) is $35k.

I work in the spirits/wine biz and sourced all alcohol for free, hand made a ton of DIY, got a ton discounted... and STILL could only get it down to $30k

To be fair that includes honeymoon which is right about $7k. I left it up to my FH and he went all out.

Unfortunately it's just so expensive to get a venue in Nashville these days.

We did just under $10k for 45 people in southern Oregon. What yours will cost is really dependent on where you’re located.

I originally started planning my wedding in Florida but moved it to Indiana since that is where my FH and I are from. We planned around 7k all included. I typically looked at venues around 1k, and was planning around 50-75 people at the time. I tried looking at places that were naturally beautiful like public buildings and parks, that would allow us more freedom with catering. Now that we are doing it back in Indiana we are able to save and come in closer to 5k for the budget, mostly because of connections we have there. Hope this helps!

Ours will be $6k - $7k. Kinda small but the venue and catering is taking most of the cost.

Our wedding is coming in at around $4k for about 100 people. When budgeting for an event like this take a hard look at your finances. Decide how much you can safely put away without creating much of a hardship. From there decide the things that are most important to your wedding vision. Example- black tie vs casual, plated/served 4 course meal or buffet/family style, open bar or hosted bar or dry.... The larger your guest list, the larger your final cost.

We plan for 10k but we realize it is closer to 15k and if we plan to splurge then it will be 20k. We are planning for 300 family and friends to attend our wedding.

We live in the NYC metro area, so any number I give you is going to reflect the price of one of the most expensive regions in the country.

According to what I've seen, average cost around here is WELL north of $50k.

We spent around $30k, for about 80-85 people. We had some family help, considering we are broke actors/service workers. We also were super aggressive about cutting costs where we didn't care about things - flowers/decor, favors (we had none), and other sundry extras. We planned in less than a year to get the current prices, I found my dress at a pop-up sample sale, and saved massively on videography by going with my coworker who wanted to try her hand at it (she's a filmmaker as it is).

Our splurges were the venue (which was still the cheapest I found in NYC) because of the view and the food, and the photographer, because we felt that was the beset way to remember the day.
