How Much Did You Spend On Your Open Bar Per Person?

Pegs, on December 12, 2017 at 1:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 38

Ours came to $25 per person for the entire night (Greek receptions can be 7 to 8 hours long). I thought it was a pretty good deal.

That is an amazing deal! We only have the option of a consumption bar, at 5$/drink (beers, house wine, and highballs).

$28 pp for 6 hours. Felt like a robbery with the way my family drinks. We cleaned them out of 5 bottles of Jameson.

We did consumption, but ours would have been about $100 per person for five hours or $61 for beer and wine.

We did a modified open bar and it came out to $12pp with the cost of the bartenders and their tip! Our reception was a mere four hours (7 hours, and I'd be napping in the coat closet!!)

Ours was $14/person for beer, wine and champagne. Plus non-alcoholic options of soda, juice, coffee, tea and apple cider.

For those of you that did consumption bars - how much per person did you end up averaging? We have a mix of drinkers and non drinkers.... I am trying to decide between open and consumption and which will truly be more economical while being a proper host. 125 -ish guests

Technically we're paying $34/pp. Our bar is $28/pp for wine, beer, and premium liquor (no shots) for 4 hours. But we're also paying an additional $6/pp for water, soda, and coffee & tea service that's built into our venue fee. I now feel compelled on WW to clarify that our guests will not be charged for water or soda at our event, nor will there be any kind of "snack cart".

Wow! Ours is going to be $10/hour for "premium" brands, and we're likely doing 5 hours.

$9/pp for 4 hrs (soda/beer/wine)...else it would have been $44/pp for a full open bar.

For consumption, we were about $25 pp, although we had very few heavy drinkers.

Our bar ranges from $36pp for beer and wine to $54pp for "premiere"/top-shelf liquor. All for 4 hours. I'm in Newport, Rhode Island; it's expensive here and that's average from what I've seen.

Depending on if its top shelf for liquor or not that sounds about right for me area for open bar. Our venue charges one per person price for the who reception package including food and alcohol.

However, the venues we looked at that had a separate cost pp for open bar cost between 25-30pp

I did consumption and came out about 27/person. But I also negotiated with my venue to put a cap on my consumption bar and then switch to open. For example open bar package would have been 4500 dollars. If our tab reached that, they would switch it over to "open." So I knew the most I would pay the night of was 4500.00 and I could (did) pay less!

I believe ours is $26-31 per person depending on what package we want.

I think ours was $33 per person for 3.5 hours of bar service (we are having a shorter reception) for premium (which is upgraded, but not top shelf) wine, beer, and liquor/mixed drinks and sodas/waters/juices. They only charge though for people over 21 and not vendors.
