How much did you spend on the Venue?

Krista, on January 20, 2016 at 3:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 40

Hi all - I know it depends on an individual's budget, however I'm looking at this barn in my area as a potential venue. I'd have to use one of their food and drink vendors. My Friday date in 2017 is going to be 5,000. I want to look around because I still have time and that seems steep. I'm curious, what did you spend on your venue location?

That's about right for a barn venue.

My venue was $3000, plus $250 ceremony fee, and $250 for bathroom attendants and site manager (required). Also my caterer is the house caterer and we had to use them (thank goodness the food is delicious and they're easy to work with) but we're paying about $16k for food drink (all my tables, flatware, plates, linens all of it is included with this caterer)

My reception won't be at a barn so this may not help but our is coming to about $4,200. Private yacht club in our neighborhood that allows member sponsored events. Now, our total cost includes the room, linens, buffet, cake service, bartenders, grats, service charge, tables and chairs, clean up and everything else that would usually be included. We are expecting about 100 people. I think this this may be below average though for all inclusive. Our ceremony is located offsite. Edit - It includes $500 for cocktail hour beer and wine and $250 for a keg.

Our venue is the majority of our budget. Its on a hill overlooking the city, and it covers very nice food, cake, alcohol and location for ceremony and reception. After taxes and tip it will be about 12,000. I also live in Southern California, and venues out here can be on the pricier side of things (though definitely possible to find a venue within budget). Good luck venue hunting, it was one of my favorite things to do.

$2000 for ceremony and reception venue. That includes the space, chairs, chair covers in white, table linens and napkins in black or white, plates, cutlery etc. , a microphone for the ceremony and podium for reception, as well as two wine barrels for use at the ceremony location if wanted. We also have to use their catering.

ETA: my venue is at a Resort/Vineyard

$6000 for ceremony and reception (it's a castle).. linens, tables, chiavari chairs, and some centerpieces and chargers if I choose to use them which I might incorporate some of them. Open catering as long as their licensed and I can bring my own booze but bartender is included. I have it that whole day.

Does the $5000 include tables and chairs, setup/breakdown and cleanup, any decor, onsite planner/manager, linens, tableware and glassware etc? Those things could easily add another $2-3k if not provided onsite.

And is it the same as their Saturday rate, or lower? That may be a bargaining point.

Mine is $3500 for ceremony and reception site with all furniture, rentals, setup/breakdown etc, but we have to use the onsite caterer and bar (thankfully reasonably priced and good!). The total est. cost with food and drink is around $9500 for 100-125.

Barn venues in my area (Oklahoma) vary wildly in cost, setting and what's provided. For instance, the barn venue between 2 housing developments with views of people's backyards was only $2500 including furniture, all rentals and DOC. The one in the middle of a quiet ranch with gorgeous views was $6000 just for space, tables and chairs.

$2,500 for the space BUT they require you use their onsite restaurant. So adding catering, open bar, staff, fees, certain rentals, it comes to about 12k. This is in the hudson valley, NY. ETA: This is for 55 people and at the highest package for catering and premium bar. The venue has multiple packages so the costs could potentially be around $6-8k if you didn't want an open bar or were happy with the smaller catering package.

Mine is just over 15K for 6 hours for space rental, tables, chairs, linens, flatware, dance floor, plated dinner with salads, soda, open bar with beer, wine, and liquor, all service and bartenders, and a coordinator. The rental itself is only 1,500. We are expecting 170 people.

$2000 for the venue, but because we are going with one of their special seasonal packages we get the venue for $1000. But with catering, drinks, and linens we will probably be spending about $10,000 overall for 70ppl.
