How much did you spend on photography and did you regret it?

KCJV, on December 31, 2016 at 11:06 AM Posted in Planning 0 34

I've found a photographer I LOVE for $4,300 - this includes engagements, all day of the wedding, 2nd shooter, album, prints, digital file. FH thinks it's too much to spend. What are you thoughts? How much did you spend and was is worth it?

Photography is the one thing I do not want to skimp on. I've heard too many horror stories!

This can greatly vary based on your location.

Then you've got your answer. Who cares what others spend? No one ever goes back (at least those who LOVE their wedding photos) years later, and wishes they saved a grand or two for work they would sortof like.

I'm $4500.00 for that offering, I don't offer second shooters as I'm a journalist. I'm not just expected to create great photos but to provide a hassle free experience for them, part of your investment. If you love their work, it's not too much.

I am spending $4,400 for 8 hours, 2 shooters and digital files because I love her work. So I clearly think it's worth it!

I think that's a great deal for all day and getting the images.

We spent about 2300 after tax and tip in our photographers and we had then for four hours. I loved them. We looked at some that were 1000 but the quality just wasn't the same.

I'm paying 575 for my photographer, and I don't regret it at all. She's really good, but she does her work as a side hobby, so she cheap.

If you're in love with their work, and you can afford it, go for it. If that price is really stretching the bank, then keep looking for another option. It's all up to you.

It doesn't matter who is spending what here. Photography is priced highly regionally and talent costs.

The people I recommend in Northern NJ have a **** buy in.

Spend as much as you can for really great people.

I'm spending $2,300 for 8 hours, two photographers, edited, copy rights, digital. This is between the average where I live. Photography ranges between $1,500-4,000+.

That sounds right for my area (Austin Texas) for a seasoned photographer who produces great work. Pricing for some goes way beyond that too (I've seen packages for 6k+). But like others said, it can really vary depending on where you are

I definitely think you get what you pay for regarding photography. If 4300 is in your budget and you like the work, then go for it.

Sounds like a good price for what you are getting and if you love their work. Good photographers are expensive but worth it. Cheap photographers usually aren't good.

Unless you didn't do research and paid too much for BAD photographer I don't think you'll find anyone who regrets spending good money on a photographer. I want these pictures to be pics I want to look at for the rest of my life so I want them to be incredible. To me that's worth spending a couple thousand dollars

I would do more research. I would also make certain that your photographer will accept a list of needed pictures from you. Some who think themselves more as photojournalists will not, and then it is disappointing when you miss out on key pictures. Some will concentrate on dancing couples, missing out on older relatives who do not dance so much.

I'm spending $4500 for 8 hours, two shooters and digital rights to the pictures so I can print anywhere. She was actually one of the more reasonable options here in Seattle that offered two shooters and rights. Some other Seattle photography packages STARTED at $5000 and that was just for one shooter.

Karen, if that was true, I wouldn't book any couples. Those who truly want a journalist don't want to have to think about it...they just want the story documented. Of course, even so, some time is set aside to do some posed photos. It's just not the premise of my approach. With that said, there are a lot calling themselves journalists who are not.

The photographers we have cost 1895$ which includes all day coverage, second shooter, digital prints on a cd. We already had our engagement session done so we didn't need to include it. Also the company we went with is just starting with albums so we are still considering ordering albums but we might just do albums through shutterfly or something

One great shooter is perfectly capable. You aren't getting double the value.

Mine is $2350 and i don't regret a single penny of it. Before I was even engaged I knew pictures would be a huge priority on my wedding day. I'm cutting florals and decor a bit to make up the difference, but that's fine with me.
