Hi Ladies and happy Friday!

I'm curious to know how much everyone has paid/budgeted for their wedding cake? As I've mentioned on here before, I have a slight cake obsession (literally, it was one of my first words) so I do want a beautiful wedding cake. However, I've gotten the quote back & she is asking for $700.00 (4 tiers). This includes delivery, but is this normal? Things are adding up & I'd love to hear some feedback before I sign her quote! ? Smiley smile

    @OriginalKD True! And it's a good one!

I'm loving all of these cake pics! Since we're on the subject, here's a bit of cake porn... This was made by the same lady who's doing our cake & it was for AJ McCarron (Bama/NFL Football) & Katherine Webb's wedding. Not anywhere near what mine will look like though!

Ours will run $375 and look similar to this but square. The flavor split will be on the diagonal. 1/2 chocolate 1/2 vanilla. I'm so excited to see it!

@Shannon - That cake is really pretty. On a side note, I will be using the same linens for my wedding

Ours is 865 total, but that includes a grooms cake. The wedding cake will be a round, four tiered cake with two flavors.

Cost is relevant, I could have gotten my same wedding cake in my hometown for maybe 1/4-1/2 the price, but since I got married in a wedding destination spot, it was more expensive.

I haven't gotten to the Cake part of planning yet, but my venue charges $2.50 per slice cutting fee if we use an outside vendor. So yeah, I'll be going with the venue's cake options Smiley smile

In my area, generally 4:00-9:00 per slice. In a restaurant, dessert is usually 5-12.00.

It depends hugely on where you are and what exactly you are getting. It's not just a cake is a cake. I live in the midwest and my cake was $296. It fed 75 people (though we didn't have anywhere near that many) and was a lovely and moderately elaborate design (large fondant flowers, ruffles on the bottom tier, and ombre coloring). That also included delivery and setup plus a box for us to take the top tier home with us.

We paid $600 for a cake for 130 people. That was on the lower end of cost for our area!

Totally depends on where you live. I was looking in the NYC area, and the lowest quote I got was $10/slice for a mostly plain cake. THANK GOODNESS my venue is all inclusive and is providing the cake.

I still have to get a tiny vegan/dairy-free cake for me and a few other guests, but at least that will only be $100, not $1200.

We have a three tiered cake and a sheet cake and are paying a total of $450, but we get $100 back once we return the cake board and stand

$1100. There was a clause in our venue contract that we had to buy a cake through them that cost at least $8 per person. Or there was a per person cut and plate charge and we'd have to find another bakery. After the taste-testing event, we decided to go with the venue.

The cake we chose ended up costing $9 per person, plus 20% service charge on top of it, plus 6% sales tax. My Mom bought the topper and the stand, because they only had silver stands.

It was the most delicious icing I've every tasted. We got to keep the top layer - frozen and a year later, it tasted lousy. We had two different flavors and fillings: strawberry champagne filled with French cream and fresh strawberries or chocolate chiffon filled with cream cheese mousse. I chose the one set of flavors and my husband chose the other. They served by alternate drop.

My cake was not a 'must have' for me so I wanted something small. I bought a 2 tier cake with 1 faux tier and sheet cake to feed 100 guests + free delivery and set up for $225. Yes $225! I was so ecstatic that I had found such a great deal, I was beyond happy. I went through my local grocery market, Giant Eagle Market District which has it's own catering department.

My cake was soooooo good...white almond with raspberry filling and buttercream. Our sheet cake was carrot cake and white almond too.

My cake plus delivery charge will be less than $500 its going to be 5 tiers. But all the tiers except the topper are going to be faux. The actually sheet cake will be cut up in the back so no one will be none the wiser.

I'm paying $185 (including delivery which I think was $10) , three tier cake, serves 55 people.

ETA: here's a picture of what it will look like, fairly simple, so that does effect price
