How much did you pay for your videographer?

Abbie, on November 30, 2017 at 10:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 20

FH told me last night that he wants to have a videographer. Originally this was not a detail either of us cared about, but he's from Mexico and due to a number of reasons he'll have almost no family in attendance. We knew this was a reality, but he decided that he'd like to have something to be able to show them at a later date.

I've no idea what's low vs. reasonable vs. high cost for a videographer. What did you pay for yours, and where you are located?

I live in NJ, and I refer three insanely excellent people; they are all between ****. That is not low, but for the artistry involved, it's reasonable.

This will depend on a number of factors including location, number of hours, experience/skill, etc. We had a relatively new videographer for our wedding and it was about $1,200 for 6 hours (in eastern WV). I think that's on the less expensive side though. Videographers can commonly run between $1,500 - $3,000 and up.

I think a valid question to ask yourself (and your potential videographers) is what you really want....are you simply looking for a recording of the day or do you want an art piece?

Celia - totally valid, we haven't really gotten into details so clearly we need to have that conversation.

$400, for a simple, edited recording of the ceremony and reception each. We're in Columbia, SC. His prices have gone up since we booked him, but only by a couple hundred dollars.

We are paying $1500 for unlimited hours for an edited documentation of the entire day that will be about 60 minutes plus a 5-7 minute highlight reel. He is somewhere between basic recording and a piece of art. Reno/Tahoe area. He just raised his prices to 3k for 2018, but we locked in 2017 pricing.

$2800 in Columbus OH - we get both a 3 minute art piece to share in social media AND a film of the whole day. The expense is worth every penny

We're in SoCal, and the range I was being quoted in our area was 2500 to 7000. We're paying for 4K and our package includes 3 shooters, 10 hours of coverage, use of drone, 5-7 highlight reel, 45-60 minute documentary style video and the raw footage

My photographer has videography included so it was in our photography cost. We're getting married off season so total is 5K. He's done the weddings of several people we know and so I've seen a lot of his work. Before you sign with any videographer, watch their videos (usually on vimeo or youtube) to see if their style is what you're interested in. Also, if you have special requests (like voice over or anything else), make sure they can do it.

Florida. The videographer I loved was around $3k for 6 hours of coverage and a 30 min edited wedding video, which was way out of the budget. Went with a lower level videographer and a simpler package (5 hours coverage, 5 minute highlight reel plus all raw footage) for $1,300.

I am in central Alabama, and the most common rate that I received when looking was $2500 for 6-8 hours. The lowest that I found was $1000.

My photographer had an add-on videography package that covers the ceremony and a few additional clips throughout the day and they gave us the raw footage and an edited video. It's $850.

I got quotes from a few videographers for my Vegas wedding. The lowest I got quote for is $2000 about 8 hrs, but it is a documentary style. I have one that starter package is $5000 for a cinematic for 7 hours and only get 5 minutes footage. The price if depending how many hours and their editing styles.
