How much did you drink at your own wedding?

Kim, on June 22, 2019 at 7:41 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
Just out of curiosity and for fun, how much did you drink at your own wedding? That is, if you are providing alcohol. When we go to weddings, FH and I usually have a few. Will probably be different when it is our own wedding though.

I am only planning to have two or three tops. Not sure how we will handle people getting us drinks but I want to remember my wedding. Also not wake up sick the morning after.

So true! I would like to remember our wedding too but you are right, people usually offer the couple more drinks.

I barely had a complete drink and I thought I would have more. We were so busy with people and dancing that I kept setting my drink down and never really drank it. I think you will be busy so I wouldn’t worry about it.

I had probably a glass and a half of wine the whole night. I was pretty sick at my wedding though!

I definitely suggest limiting yourself. You won’t get enough food and water in you most of the day and don’t want to overindulge for sure. I had two mimosas in the morning. Half glass of champagne when we signed the marriage license, a glass of wine with dinner, a whiskey to toast, and then two more drinks throughout the reception while dancing. There was an old fashioned delivered to our honeymoon suite for me but I barely touched it. No one tried to get me a drink, but I was also good about keeping the glass with just a little bit left in my hand and if someone did hand me something I’d fake it for a bit and then set it down when I walked away to talk or dance.

We had an open bar so If somebody handed me a drink and I didn’t want it I would take a sip and sit it down. 😂

My FH & I just talked about this the other day. I don’t want to drink much just because I want to feel great the next day. I also want to remember every moment of the wedding. My plan is to limit myself to 2-3 glasses of wine for the entire day.

I only had the one glass of champagne that was set at our table and honestly only had a few sips. I only drank during toasts! The glass was still mostly fully by the end of the night

I plan to only have a few glasses of wine. We went to a wedding in January and the bride and groom both got so drunk and they got in a fight during the after party, and then neither of them could remember half the wedding the next morning.

I didn't have any alcohol, I was hot and just sucking back water most of the day/night. Glad now because it's already hard enough to remember some of the details because the day seems to pass so fast.

At our DW, I was so anxious I hardly touched my champagne while getting ready. I have to say that was a good thing because “bridal bliss” is real...the day goes by so fast and your head is already in a mild “buzz” all day. It’s tough to be fully present. Hubby & I had 1/2 glass of champagne during cocktail hour then went to change. At the reception, there were quite a few glasses of wine and hubby/best man drank out of the rum bottle (not much left but enough!).
