How much are you spending on photography and videography?

LuckiestGirl, on January 30, 2014 at 3:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

I am having a difficult time finding reasonably priced photographers and videographers. It will probably be our biggest splurge.

My photographer is $1580 for 6 hours, and my videographer is $400 for 3 hours with a highlight video and raw footage. I negotiated the price with the videographer because I really only care about the video of the ceremony and we didn't have it in our budget to pay a lot for one.

$2650 for photography: 8 hours, 2 photographers, e-session, rights to photos. Videography is FREE, we found someone trying to start a business in the city we're getting married in, and I really wanted it, but wasn't in the budget.

Prices of vendors vary by region. The same photographer could not be charging NYC prices if they're situated somewhere more rural. Try out this site to get an average of your area:

2900 - includes 2 photographers, 1 videographer, engagement photos and editing for 8 hours.

    May increase the time slightly.

Prices definitely vary based on location. I'm in Northern New Jersey.

Photographer is $2,000 and includes 8 hours, 16x20 portrait, 1 DVD of pics with rights to print, our album with 100 pics, 2 parent albums.

Videographer is $2,000 and includes 8 hours, opening trailer, invitation display, 3 DVDs, recap/highlights. We're also shooting a "love story" video in the Spring that will be played during our cocktail hour and the cost includes the equipment to run the video.

CostofWedding.com -- love this site! Heard about it on WW! It is a survey of what people spend on weddings in your area -- it's a great tool that lets you know if your expectations are in-line or not based on the zip code of the wedding.

Photography: $3,000 which included - 8 hours of coverage wedding day, 2 engagement shoots with all our edited photos on a CD with the printing rights, a guest book with engagement photos, 16 x 20 canvas, wedding album (30 pages I think), 2 parent albums, all our edited photos on a CD with printing rights & $250 print credit. (I think that covers it all)

Videography: $1,000 for 8 hours of coverage. $500 for the editing with 2 edited DVD's and all our raw footage.

I didn't like the price quotes I was receiving from some of the bigger-name photographers in my area ($1900-$3500), so I looked down through all of my Facebook friends in search of someone who used a lesser-known photographer for any of their recently-posted pictures-- wedding, engagement, baby, etc. I ended up finding a great photographer for $700 for the entire day with full reprint rights. =)

Photographer was $1700 for all day (two photographers) plus engagements pics. We didn't do a videographer, just had FIL's camera recording the ceremony

@Koch Bride, I've talked to a lot of people, and they recommend have the flip side of what you have---2 photogs and 1 video. I think it has to do with varying photog angles. My videographer will be setting up several cameras for the actual ceremony, so they will get a variety of angles. Just a recommendation!

$4500 for photography ~ 2 photogs, 10 hours, e session and a 10x10 book and all rights to prints.

$1600 for videographer ~ small mini story and 1 full length of ceremony and large portions of reception

Combined I don't feel like it's too bad...photos were in the top three items along with venue and food/drinks

I'm buying a video camera and having my cousin record it, IF I forget (got grad school, work, wed planning etc *loosing my mind*) I'll use my aunts.

We paid $890 for 6 hours of photography with a free engagement photo session
