How much are you paying for Hair & Makeup?

MrsO, on January 26, 2012 at 9:56 PM

I'm in the process of looking for someone for hair and makeup. The quotes I am receiving seem crazy expensive though... like 400 dollars just for 2 people (me and my MOH). One quote had the bride cost as double the bridesmaid for both hair and makeup, which I thought was a little excessive as well....

I know it will vary depending on location and other factors, but how much are you paying for your hair and makeup?

    I got $90/girl. The highest I was quoted from a private person--was $150/girl.

Since all my girls are getting their hair done, my hair and makeup will be free. Plus I get some other things. For the girls the hair starts at $35 and so dose the make up.

$140, "basic" hair and makeup, no trial. It's just me - no party. I've worked with this artist several times. By basic, just some easy, romantic waves that unfortunately I just don't know how to do by myself, but she makes them awesome. Up-do's (with makeup) will run around $220 for this same person.

There are group discounts, but it's irrelevant for me since I have no bridal party.

This is something I just lucked out on. Mine is going to be free for both MUA/hair. I couldn't believe it, I just found this out this morning. I was super excited. One of my DIL's friends does make up part time and I asked her what she would charge to do my make up for the wedding and she said nothing and that she was hoping that I would ask her to do it. Of course I will do something special for her.

This was one of the things I begrudgingly spent the most on. I really didn't want to spend as much as Boston places were charging, but I didn't have any alternatives. I paid $250 for my hair/makeup and the bridesmaids paid $85 for hair and $85 for makeup (most did one or the other). The trial was $100 total for both. (I also did a trial at a place I didn't go with, which was SUPER annoying).

I can't remember, are you getting married in the Boston area? If so, I'd definitely recommend my makeup artist (she does both hair and makeup and she is amazing). Smiley smile

I paid $180 for 3 hairdo's, including mine. But we went to the salon and all three were pretty simple.

Makeup was $360 for 4 ladies, mine was airbrush and she came to the hotel were we were getting ready. So your quote sounds a little steep.

Hair is $55. Make-up is free as MOH is a professional MUA. Wedding party make-up is $5 with false lashes, $35 without.

My guy is David Magna and he charges by the hour for himself and his associate. I'm getting hair and makeup done for myself, two bridesmaids and two moms. $450 for David himself and $350 for his associate.

I'm starting to feel like my quotes weren't that crazy, however it is still so much more than what I was planning/hoping to spend.

Oh and Anne Marie, we aren't getting married in Boston. Our wedding is actually going to be in Maryland.

    I am not sure...

I am having my Make up and hair trial soon, and she will tell me when she sees my hair and finds out what all i want..

She says the trial will cost at most $25 for hair & Make up

But I am not sure...My Coordinator gave me her # and said if I used her name I would get 10% off.

I was in a wedding in July it cost us 90 for both. 50 for hair and 45 for make up. He actually quoted the bride lower since she booked all of the bridesmaids as well.

When I first started looking, I found hair pricing would be anywhere around $60-$150.

Make-up (airbrush) $125 for bride, $65 for mob/mog, as well as bridesmaids.

So, my friend who is in cosmetology school approached me and offered to do my hair and make-up free as a wedding gift. I am forever greatful because my hair is thick, frizzy, and curly! She will be doing a flat rate of $50 for my mom and bridesmaids. That price included hair and make-up.

So, in turn for her doing my hair and make-up free, I am allowing her to use my pictures for her portfolio. I think its a great trade off, she even is doing a trial for me.

I paid $125 for makeup which included a trial two weeks before, application the day of (she came to the hotel where we were getting ready), and a bonus ride to the venue! My hair styling was a gift from my hairdresser but she would normally charge $55. I'm in AZ.

My hair is 65 and make up is 45 FYI My hair is being done at great clips. most of th time when you hear of them you would think that they cant do hair other then a cut and wash. But the one girl there I love her hair, and she does the up do's for them. I was super excited about it. All other quotes I got because I have long thick hair were over 100.00

Emily, for one thing, it is against Weddingwire's rules to advertise your services under a bride's account and not a vendor account. For another thing, it is pathetic to advertise your own services on a bride's account while pretending to be someone else, which I'm assuming is what you are doing when you say "they." I am going to assume that it is not just a coincidence that your name is Emily and so is the owner of the company you posted.

(I'm not against advertising your own services, when done properly with a vendor account, however I think it is wrong to try to do it under the disguise of someone else)
