How much alcohol do i need to buy?

Mrs. S, on February 18, 2019 at 7:33 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 10

Hi all! I've seen all the online calculators and I've tried to read through old ww discussions as well as talk to my caterer, but I just need some live action advice here. How many bottles of wine do I need, and how many pints/gallons of beer? I have 80 ppl on my guest list, and we will have tea, water, lemonade, and Cheerwine (soda). We have a mix of light and heavy drinkers. We will have a cocktail hour with appetizers and then a 3.5 hour reception. I can choose between cabernet, red blend, chardonnay, and pinot grigio, and tons of different beers (no liquor). How much alcohol are you buying/did you buy? I'm not sure how much I'll need total, and also what percentage of beer and red and white wine I should get. If you have experience with this, please help!

Im having a similar guest count 80/100max and im planning on buying 4 cases of wine (thats 48 bottles) and 4 cases of beer (96 bottles). My venue suggested i was crazy and people always overbuy alcohol. She (who has been doing this for 20 yrs) told me I wont need no more than 12 bottles of wine and 40 beers. - there is no way thats enough. So i will gladly overbuy lol. I can take it back home and we will have company for a week afterwards.
However if that doesnt work for you, you can check with a local beverage store if they have a return policy for any unopened items. Good luck!

Majority of my family and FH family are beer drinkers. Both our aunts and myself are the only wine drinkers so we’ll definitely be having majority beer probably 30 cases or so, probably 10 bottles of wine and 2-3 signature drinks. And thankfully if there’s any left over I’m just gonna have whoever wants it take it.

Im just having them box up all the leftovers and I am taking it home. I am certain i will end up with an after party at my house and if not I will have fam in town for a week and that will help with the entertainment!
What signature drinks are you doing? I thought about it and then disregarded it.

I personally don’t drink very often so I know if I take any home it’ll be months before it’s drank. My parents and FH parents on the other hand it’ll go to good use. FH signature drink is going to be Jake and Coke, I’m thinking mine is either going to be Margaritas or Blue Hawaiian

We’re going with that instead of a full bar
