How much alcohol are you buying for your wedding?

Nicole, on September 12, 2019 at 10:25 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 2 35
So I did a little shopping today. We are having a 50 person wedding but there will only be 27 adults drinking. I spent $220 at Trader Joe’s tonight on the following:
3 bottles of vodka for our signature drink
3 bottles of sparkling rosé
4 bottles of champagne
3 bottles of rosé
3 bottles of cab
1 bottle of Chardonnay
2 bottles of Pino Grigio
4 bottles of Sauvignon blanc
2 bottles of Primitivo

Then we are getting a keg of miller lite (my FH beer of choice) a few IPA’s and probably a bottle of whiskey

To much? To little?

For my crowd, it would be too much, but you know your guests. Smiley smile

I think if that's what your guests drink it's perfect! Mine are more beer than wine, so it's going to be mostly beer. I may get a couple bottles of wine. I know i'm getting some vodka, and for sure some Jack Daniels. Other than that i'm not sure yet

That is a wide variety. I am sticking to just Chardonnay and Cabernet sauvignon for wine because those are the most popular and 4 hard alcohols (whiskey, tequila, cognac, vodka). If your guests like variety then you have it.

Definitely depends on your crowd. Would not be near enough for 27 of my friends and family. They say to plan 1 drink per person per hour, and 2 drinks during the first hour. So I would make sure you have at least that. You can always take leftover bottles home! Definitely better to have too much than not enough.

My guest list is on 64...so it may not be as much😳

I think the rule of thumb is one drink per guest per hour. So for you, 27 drinks per hour! This seems like it should be enough, but you know your guests! Some alcohol wholesalers have a buy-back policy for any unused bottles too, just a thought if you decide to pick up more!

In my culture you have to have cognac ! So my husband was dead set on Hennessy. The venue gave us wine for free.

We have a confirmed guest list of 46, 40 drinking. I already have 30 bottles of wine, 15 red, 15 white but I am thinking of getting another 10 for different red and white options. We're getting 10 bottles of champagne and about 5 or 6 cases of beer. We'll also have a signature drink. I would rather have too much than too little and I'm buying brands I actually like. It looks like you're doing the same so I think you're good!

Exactly!!! I shopped specifically knowing what what all my people like. Actually out of 35 adults only 26 are drinking. There’s a variety because it’s what my group likes. We’ll have the keg for my fiancé and a few cases of beer as well as the vodka signature drink. Only tho g I’m on the fence about is the whiskey. I may just get it to be safe.

I will never say no to good whiskey! I bought a flask for my son/best man as part of his gift. I plan to get him whiskey to go in it, but may ask if we can share some before he walks me down the aisle. LOL Our signature drink is made with rum for my FW. She's not big on wine and doesn't drink beer.

Lol— we had a big whiskey crowd so we got 2 kinds and stocked up. Then the night before the wedding we ended up hanging with a very small group in a hotel room for a bit and they killed and entire bottle of whiskey. My husband was like “ummm maybe we should get more” and ran out for a few extra bottles in the AM 🤣

That would be me!!! I told my FW I can't wait for our honeymoon in Ireland so I can get my hands on all that Irish whiskey! We are definitely planning a few nights at the pub.

We have roughly 80-100 people (still waiting on RSVPs) that are all due on monday.

    Heres what we are doing

    Bottled/Canned Beer = 8 cases total (1 case = 24 beers) I would get 4 different flavors
Wine = 3 cases total - 1.5 cases white wine, 1.5 cases red wine.
Liquor = 2 handles (1.75L bottle) of each: vodka, gin, whiskey, rum + 1 (1L) bottle of vodka & whiskey as backup.
    Champagne = 1 case (12 bottles)

That’s so sweet! I thought about my son walking me but although I won’t say it out loud to anyone I know, my dads had a few health scares recently so I’m having him walk me to create more memories. ❤️

What’s your signature drink going to be?
