How many songs do you need?

AugustBride, on January 9, 2018 at 12:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hi~

I'm trying to figure out how many songs are needed for both ceremony and reception? We are having our ceremony at a church and reception at a venue.

Appreciate all of your help!

Ceremony we had one song-whatever the guitarist played. Dinner we had GoT songs. Reception we picked 70 songs, but told the DJ to play whatever, it was just a guideline of what we liked.

I guess I was referring to the important songs like the walking down the isle, first dance.

IDK if that makes sense. I know that the bridal party goes in with a different song,do the groom's party go in with a different song too?

at the reception, does the bridal party go in with a different song as well or same song for BP & bride and groom?

things like that, i hope it makes sense Smiley smile

    1. Processional- Either 1 for the bridal party and the bride, or 2 different songs

    2. Recessional- Walking back down the aisle with FS

    3. Entrance song(s)- Either one for everybody or different songs for the bride and groom

    4. First Dance

    5. Spotlight Dances- dad/daughter, mom/son

    6. Last Song

Some people like to have "pre-show" music for the 30 minutes or so before the ceremony, so that's like 6-10 songs. Then you'll need music to signal the start of the ceremony. If you find a long enough song, you can us just one for the groomsmen/moms/grandmas making their way in. If you want, you can switch songs for the bridesmaids processing, and then a different song for yourself if you want it to be dramatic (which I would). Then you just need a recessional! Dinner and reception will be a lot more obviously

    Ohhh 🤦🏻‍♀️
Walk down the aisle-GoT theme song; picked since we walked down the aisle together. We only had one person in wedding party so we used one song.
First Dance-Cinema, by Benny Benassi, original version without Gary GO
we didn't have a grand entrance so we didn't have a song for that
