How many servings of dessert should you have?

Jessie, on April 9, 2019 at 7:32 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11

We're doing an assortment of mini cupcakes (plus a small cake) for our wedding. My question is, how many mini cupcakes do we need to provide for a wedding of approximately 250 guests? What is the rule of thumb here?

For normal sized cupcakes the suggested amount is about 1.5 cupcakes per person. I'd say 2-3 minis per person. I'd probably order 600 for 250 people.

I would order at least 3 pp for mini cupcakes.

I would order 2-3 minis per person, especially if you have multiple flavors.

Following. I am not sure where my guest list or the exact rule but I am thinking 2-3 times the serving per person. So with a guest list of 20 and 3 desserts, 60 servings (20 of each dessert).

I agree with 2-3 per. We are doing cake and donuts that are on the smaller end but surprisingly filling. Cake will be 1 serving per person and donuts will be 1.5 or 2. We will have treat bags for people to take extra home, we will definitely have extra because I have a lot of family that doesn’t like cake and then some people probably won’t want a donut.

For mini cupcakes I'd go 3-4 per person. I love mini cupcakes, you just pop them into your mouth, and if it's the only desert (besides the small cake) once people drinking I could see them go pop, pop, pop Smiley heart

I was told 2.5 servings per guest for mini desserts and 1.5 servings for regular size desserts.

I ordered on the low side as a start and when we get RSVP's I will call the bakery and adjust my numbers. I am doing one serving pp, ONLY based off my previous experience of not everyone liking cake/cupcakes. I am one of those people too!

We are doing donuts instead of traditional cake. We will also have other dessert choices but since donuts are acting as our main choice, we are ordering 2 per guest.

Assuming everyone comes we'll have around 200 people there, but we're expecting more like 150. we're ordering 5 sheet cakes with serving size of either 2x2 or 2x3. That should serve anywhere from 320 (2x3) to 585 servings (2x2). I did it this way because we're also having all 5 sheet cakes be different flavors. I wanted enough cake that people could have more than one flavor if they wanted to.
