How many photos do you get?

Nicole, on February 26, 2020 at 9:32 AM Posted in Planning 1 19
For your wedding photos, how many did you receive? Or how many will you receive? I’m debating about switching photographers, I found one that I really like and she has a package for 8 hours 350 fully edited photos or 10 hours for 400 fully edited photos. Does that seem too little? For my engagement session alone with the current photographer we hired we got about 100 for 2 hours.

Depends on your photographer. Mine says she only gives the retouched photos or the ones that came out well so a not so great photo she would not.

I received over a thousand pictures from my photographer. 350 or 400 seems low to me but it’s up to you!

That’s what I thought too. But I’d rather have 400 great photos than be unhappy about a ton. From our engagement session with our current photographer, I just looked I only liked 25 photos out of 200. I just don’t want the same thing to happen for our wedding :/

We will have our photographer for 8 hours and will receive around 1000 fully edited photos back. She did our engagement photos as well and they've all turned out amazing. It's really up to you how many you want. Most photographers around me will do anywhere from 250-500 edited photos, she just happened to be the one that had the most and offered more for cheaper. In my opinion, I think 1000 will be overwhelming to go through and will definitely take some time but I know we'll get tons of good pictures of out them.

It depends, you're saying you get 300-400 fully edited photos, which is a lot of time and effort from the photographer when you think about it. I have to check how many edited photos I get, but I do get all of the photos nonwatermarked and unedited.

I think having 400 really amazingly edited photos sounds better than needing a ton. I received hundreds too. I think as long as you’ve got really amazing ones in the end it’s ok

I think mine comes with about 450 but that honestly seems more than enough to be. I just picture making that amount into an album. Are you have them photograph the entire reception as well? I’m planning to only do the beginning of the reception!

I was only planning on having the photographer for part of the reception, I don't really care for pictures on the dance floor, I only care about the main events. Now that I keep thinking about it, 1000 photos might be too much anyway.

Agreed! I’d rather have a couple photos of my mom helping me get into my dress than drunks on the dance floor lol, no one does anything with those photos anyways. I just looked and my contract is 400-700 edited photos! Which in my opinion is more than enough ❤️I’m just going to emphasize photos of myself and my groom, then photos with our family members! I’d only like a few of the shoes and perfume pics, those aren’t my priority.

My photographer texted me yesterday saying he took about 3000 photos, so we should expect an edited album of around 600-650 photos! Our package was for unlimited hours, I believe he was there for around 11 hours!

That sounds like a great deal! I'm going to talk to our potential photographer later today to see if we can customize our package so that maybe we can get more photos/time.

That sounds like a great deal too. I guess at this point I'd rather have 400 beautiful photos than 1000 bad ones. I didn't like the way our engagement photos were edited and they looked too cheesy for our taste. The photographer made us pose in awkward positions and overall it just wasn't a good fit. I've been contemplating over this since October and I can't get over it so I'm finally going to do something about it.

We’re getting 1200 photos for 8 hours with only light retouching (basically color correcting). TBH I would be fine receiving a lower number, it’s overwhelming to have to scroll through so many photos and if the photographer focuses more on a select few hundred so that they’re amazing, I would still think it’s worth it. How many photos do you really need of you on the dance floor, getting ready, etc?

Our engagement photos were edited with only light retouching and they didn't look great, they looked dark in a lot of photos and dull in color which is part of the reason why we're looking for a new photographer. I honestly could take better photos on my iphone which says a lot. You're right, we don't need photos on the dance floor. We just want photos mainly of us, family, our bridal party, and a few details of our reception.

We received 100 edited pictures from our engagement shoot and 1,200 edited from our wedding. Then all the unedited ones from the wedding (around 4,000). She was there for 8 hours.

400 seems very low to me! Especially for 10 hours. I'm not sure on the exact number we received of full edited photos, but it was around 1,000 and they were all excellent. And we only had our photographers for 6 hours.

I'm going to ask the photographer if we can customize the package. We don't need coverage for 10 hours, probably at most 9 hours so I'm going to ask if we can just get more photos. At this point it's more about quality and quantity for us. We care more about photos of us, our closest family and friends, bridal party, and details of our wedding.

We are getting our photographer for 6 hours and we'll get all photos she takes and we can decide if we want them or not.

Our photographer told us 800-1000. Our second choice photographer told us that his average was about 700 so 300-400 seems a bit low.
