how many people ACTUALLY showed up to your wedding?

genesis, on May 17, 2017 at 10:35 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

Hello friends,

our wedding is only 24 days away and we have confirmed 97 out of the 100 guests. My worry is how many people will ACTUALLY show up? I am terrified that we'll have some people who will bring extras and there not be space for them. Is this common? If so, how was the problem solved? Thank you! Smiley smile

We had 89 rsvp yes and 85 actually attended. Of the 4 that did not attend (it was 2 couples) one person in each couple had been sick the week leading up to the wedding and just weren't feeling well enough to make the 3 hour drive and spend the night in a hotel.

One of the couples I knew wasn't coming a few days ahead and the other until day of, but I couldn't change my catering numbers so I just ate the cost. overall I thought it was pretty good. I thankfully didn't have people that I worried about bringing extras and all that...But even they had, my venue had room if needed.

I had 3 no shows at my wedding and 1 person bring a plus one after rsvping for herself alone. I ended up paying for 2 people who didn't show but it didn't matter.

Everyone who RSVP'd yes showed up. We had several people show up late and one person brought someone who was not invited due to them being her ride (side eyed the hell out of her)

Of all who had RSVP'd yes to mine, I had one couple call to cancel the day before due to a family emergency, no no-shows, and no extras. For the weddings I've been to or a part of I've only seen surprise guests once, it was at my sister's wedding and a cousin I had never met, who had been invited but never RSVP'd, showed up with her son. We were able to accommodate them.

I was in the same dilemma - we over-invited just a bit because we heard not everyone says yes, but in our case, everyone did!

But it all worked out because in spite of all the RSVPs, not everyone showed up that day. We invited 110 and 90 showed up. Not too far from our goal of 100.

Unfortunately, in my family & FH's family it's so common for people to bring extras. So I'm incredibly nervous we won't have space.

For example, My aunt called me today to tell me that she wants to bring the person that's going to give her a ride to the wedding & that her husband might go (when we had only given her one seat because husband said he couldn't make it a month ago!!!)

I told her that i have reserved only one seat for her & IF someone doesn't show up then MAYBE those seats could be given to husband & ride.

This is what I'm dealing with Smiley sad

We invited 110 guests however we only had 92 that showed up. We were happy with that number but we're disappointed that we wasted money paying for extra 18 people

75 RSVP'd yes and all 75 we're there, no more no less.
