How many hours should I book my wedding limo for?

Denise, on January 15, 2016 at 8:09 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

Okay ladies and gents I have a bit of a conundrum that I'm hoping you can help me figure out. My fiance and I are of the mindset that we do not need to have a limo just sit around for us racking up OT all day while we party the night away during the reception. I also feel strongly that I don't want to show up all made up me and my bridesmaids in separate cars. I want to feel like a princess... just not for the price it costs to get me there. lol

Here are the basic details of my wedding day so far:

-Ceremony and Reception taking place at the same place. Total time wedding and ceremony booked for 5 1/2 hours from start to finish. We plan on being there at least 3 hours earlier to take pictures.

-Myself and my bridal party will most likely be getting ready at a hotel room nearby. Let's say no more than 20 minutes away. Here are my questions to you kind folksSmiley laugho I really need to book a limo for the entire day (that's more than likely 9 hours!)?

What would be your suggestion/tips?

I'm confused on why you need a limo at all?

Does your hotel offer a shuttle service you can use? A limo sounds like a waste. Maybe get an Uber? You can request a "black car" which can sometimes be a limo....

And I get "wanting to feel like a princess" but if you're getting there before guests for pictures, no one will see you anyways....

While you're right about not needing the limo to arrive, what about leaving the reception? Even if the hotel we book has shuttle service, would the shuttle service run all night or late at night?

I'm kinda in the same boat. The hotel we blocked is a half hour away. All the guys are getting ready at the hotel and then going to the venue (all plan on staying over) We are providing transportation for guests at 4 but I wanted to get a limo for them so they don't have to drive since they have to be there before 4. But everyone I called wants 300 for a half hour one way drive..

Same situation here. Ceremony and reception are in the same place. The guys are all sleeping over the night before at our apartment, which is 20 minutes from the venue. The girls and I will be at a hotel 10 minutes from the venue. I really think we are just gonna take cabs lol. I think the limo is an unnecessary expense for us.

I'm probably only going to rent a limo for 2 hours, ceremony and reception is at the same place and FH and I are staying overnight in the farmhouse on site on our wedding night. We're going to get shuttles for our guests because closest hotels are 30 min away, and I think it's a good gesture if people drink. I'm going to have the limo pick up me and the girls and my parents, then go back and pick up FH and his party at the hotel. I don't want anyone driving, want everyone together, and I want the "limo experience". FFIL thinks I shouldn't get one.... But when else am I going to get to ride in one? I just don't know how much $$ it's going to cost

Most limo services charge at a minimum for 3 1/2 hours any additional time is charged OT. One place I found charges $620 for 2015 mkt that fits 10 ppl and OT was $115 an hour.

I think most limo companies have a minimum time requirement upwards of 3-4 hours. FH wants one but I really don't see the point. No one's going to see you arrive and it takes all of 5 minutes to leave so idk. Sit in the back of someone's SUV to arrive princess.

Kidding, but I think you're gonna have to just pay if that's what you want.

Maybe my original post came off wrong. What I'm most concerned about is my wedding party and how they will get around. Not all of them drive and I don't want to cab it. I think that would be rude given the fact that they've been my biggest supporters and are helping me tremendously with the wedding.

Where do your bridesmaids need to get around to? Are ceremony and reception in different locations?

The ceremony and reception are in the same place. Hotel to picture locations, picture location to venue, venue back to hotel.
