How many guests you get at your wedding?

Jocelyn, on October 17, 2019 at 2:49 PM Posted in Planning 1 20
I have a strict budget cap at 115 guests for my wedding. The discount pricing of 60 a head was given for 100 and every person over would result in a 115 dollar charge. I've invited about 145 guests (this included every couple and plus one I gave any guests). Just wanted to know what most people ended up with at their wedding! I have a few sprinkled in people from out of state but most people invited are military from around our area and my extended family.

We invited 225, had a total count of 125 at our wedding. We invited full families, single guests got plus ones, all significant others were invited, plus we had a lot of military guests, elderly guests, several run farms/ranches, and more than 50% were out of state. So we anticipated a lot of "no" responses.

We had a DW, invited 100 and had 80 attend. Honestly, inviting 145 when you have a strict cap of 115 is VERY risky IMO. I would never invite over what I can afford. Can you swing it if everyone says yes? There are been many instances of 100% (or close to it) attendance on here.

We invited about 130-145, and a couple people had to cancel AFTER they sent back the rsvp which was the most annoying thing about planning, but our count stands at 105, and our wedding is next Saturday.

I invited about 150 people and about 100 came. I wouldn't guarantee you won't be over the cap, though.

I'm not sure why you'd invite more people than the cap.

We had a strict cap of 150, so we invited 148.
    125 people came.

We had a small DW and invited 60 and we had 55. I would never invite more than my capacity.

Given how much of an additional charge you're looking at per person it seems really foolish to have invited in surplus.
I've seen plenty of people say they had near perfect attendance.

Our venue only holds 85 people without having to pay for an extra room which isn't my vision for the day and we wanted a small wedding. I invited exactly 85 people including myself and my FH. I had no room for error. We expect 70-78 people to be able to come which is perfect. But if everyone can make it that's cool too. I feel like you're putting more stress on yourself than necessary.

What do you plan to do if more than 115 people RSVP yes to the wedding?

I would never invite more than we could afford. My fiancé was on the same page as you and wanted to invite nearly 180 when we wanted to pay for 125. Our venue didn’t have a cap but each person Is $134 a plate, and I just couldn’t see chancing that we would be paying thousands more than we wanted to. So long story short we cut our guest list. You will probably not get 100% attendance, but you could and that’s just not a bet I would make.

Daughter invited 127; we had 101 attend (80%). Their target was always 100 guests (but we had space and budget to accommodate all 127). We predicted the acceptances with about 98% accuracy (elderly and/or international/out of state guests we were pretty certain would not be able to attend). I agree with others though, I've seen too many posts on this forum with 95-100% acceptance rates; you have to plan for that.

Our contract is for 100 people without extra costs per plate. We are anticipating about 8-10 people declining, could be more, could be less. We have a few people we’d like to invite assuming there are declines but won’t unless we know for sure they aren’t coming. I never would over invite in hopes to get “x” amount of declines. Very risky if you aren’t willing or able to pay for the extra plates.
