How many days off work?

Heather , on August 12, 2018 at 5:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 24
How many days off of work is usual?
I was going to take 2 days off before the wedding.
Im also considering taking this friday off to get marriage licensce.
Is that normal?
Fh started a new job and next friday might be the last weekday he has off before things pick up.
I work 10 to 7 friday and I drive an hour away to get to work
Fh is working nights and he usually sleeps until 10 am after work
So Im thinking that by the time he wakes up and we got to the courthouse it could be 11 am Im not sure how long the process is so I might get to work almost by 1...then work 6 hours
Since we are not having a honey moon I was thinking we could get marriage licensce, take our time then spend the day together maybe dinner or go to sometging special
Does that sound stupid?

If you have the time available and your manager is okay with it then I would do it

Not at all! I think that sounds really nice if you have the time available to take off.

Just make sure to call to see if you need to make an appointment to get the license, but once you're there the process takes all of 10 minutes usually.

I took the week off before and after the wedding. We did last minute errands, got our marriage license and got everything ready for the wedding. Then after the wedding we enjoyed relaxing and decompressing after all that planning was finally over.

I am taking a half day or maybe a full day to get our wedding license. I'll have a 4 day weekend the weekend prior (thanks to Christmas eve and Christmas day) but I doubt much wedding stuff will get done that weekend. I am also taking the day before off for the rehearsal and also Mon. until the following Tuesday off for our honeymoon. Maybe another 1 or 2 random days to finalize details and meet with vendors. My manager has been very good about telling me that I can take off whenever I need (I have nearly 200 hrs of PTO saved up)

I'm currently in a medical residency program so we have strict rules with vacations unfortunately, like only being able to take off one week at a time, no more, no less. (And the month our vacations are in have to be pre-approved every spring and pretty much are then decided and scheduled for the entire year...) I'm taking the week after my wedding because I didn't want to have to wait a few months to take our honeymoon vacation. I am hoping based on the area I'm staffing that month that I will be able to have a lighter week the four days leading up to my wedding. But before those four days leading up to the wedding, I'll actually be staffing the NICU, which is why it's going to be essential that we find a month of coordinator. Smiley atonished

I dont expect to paid for time off I have only been there since April
I was just feeling that if I got to work late it is not worth driving an hour one way for 5 or 6 hours

We worked 5 hours then left to get our license. It took us 20 minutes, made an appt and had filled out the application online a week before. I'm taking 2 days off before the wedding then almost 3 weeks after, we'll be in Hawaii for about 2 weeks. He's taking 1.5 days before.

I think it depends on the location of the wedding. I would definitely take the day after the wedding weekend off so you can go run errands like go to the social security office if you plan to change your name. If you don't have a honeymoon right after, a nice dinner or even a weekend trip will be a nice getaway as husband and wife. Also, it depends how much time you are allowed to take off from work.

My fiancé and I are getting married on a Sunday so I am taking Friday and Monday off. I might take 1-2 days off in either September and/or October if I need to do things like get the marriage license or finalize things if I can't do them on weekends. It will be hard since I work at a college and September and October are very busy at work. We're waiting to do a honeymoon hopefully next summer when work is slower.

I’m taking the M-F before our wedding, the M-F after for our homeymoon, and one extra Mon. Back to work on Tues! It will be glorious! But do what you reasonably can - I don’t see why your job would have a problem with one day off to get your marriage license!

Our wedding is a Sunday so we are planning to just take the Monday afterwards off. I’d like to take off the Friday before too, but need to save PTO for the honeymoon.

We will probably either go in late or leave early from work to get our marriage license since they are only open from 9-4 on weekdays :/ but I didn’t feel taking a whole day was necessary, just an hour or two (and both our bosses would let us just work late if we came in late, or come in early if we needed to leave early, to compensate). Depends on how long you think getting the marriage license will take, and how far your jobs are! You should call the clerk’s office in your town and see how long they expect it to take... ours said it would be under a half an hour

I would do the same as you are planning for getting your license if I h add the same circumstances. We took off one day early from work (work in same town) as we had to travel back to the county we live in (45 min away) to apply for our marriage license. Took maybe 15 minutes.

As for before the wedding I'm taking 2 days off before and will return to work the following Wednesday after a mini moon in Shenandoah national park. We will honeymoon in June 2019 on an Alaskan cruise for just over a week.

Honestly, if you can even without a honeymoon right now I’d take at least several days before & after. Enjoy this time.

It really depends on every job. My job really doesn't care when I take off, I can just come in early/stay late to make up the hours. So I'm taking off the Friday before the wedding, and 6 days after for our honeymoon (not including weekends). My fiance gets 3+ weeks of PTO and possibly more depending on his billable hours.

I will have a total of 16 days off for my wedding and pre-honeymoon (not including weekends since I only work Monday-Friday). I think taking a day off to get your license and then enjoy some time together is a great idea! If you are not taking a honeymoon I would think it would be okay since you won't have to take time off for that as well. It also depends how flexible your job is and how understanding your boss is.

Ill be taking the 3 days prior off to get ready, then the 6 days after off. FHs parents are visiting from Washington so not working while they are here. Total of 10 days. We are only going to disneyland the day after the wedding, our honeymoon will most likely be at the begining of the new year.
