How many days are you taking off before the big day

Bridget, on April 13, 2022 at 10:21 PM Posted in Community Conversations 4 17
So I’m planning on taking 1-2 days off from work before the big day. Is that too short? Do I need more days off? What’s yours? My goal is to have everything done before the week and have Tuesday and Wednesday free for my Thursday wedding.

I took off Wed, Thurs, Fri for Saturday wedding. It was plenty of time for me! I could've definitely just done thurs/Fri but it was nice and relaxing. My husband only took off Friday and we slept in and enjoyed the day until our rehearsal! We both wished we would have taken Monday off, so if you can I highly recommend!

Our wedding is in Puerto Rico so we're heading down a little over a week ahead of our wedding. I'm taking the week ahead of the wedding off for a few reasons: 1) I'm a licensed mental health therapist and licenses don't cross state lines so can't safely legally work from PR anyways. 2) If I COULD work from PR then my days would go from 3-9pm due to the time difference which sounds rough. 3) We aren't going back to PR before this time so that week on my end will be spent doing hair and makeup trials and finalizing things in person with vendors as well as chilling on the beach. My fiancé is planning on working some from there though I believe

I'm just taking off the Friday before (getting married on a Saturday). I have a box on the counter of all the day-of things we have to drop off with our coordinator that I've been adding to as it arrives or we purchase (cake topper, guest book, etc.), so that will all be consolidated and ready to go. I'm planning to drop that off, pick up FH's tux, check into the hotel I'll be staying at and drop off my dress, overnight bag, etc., and then I'll probably spend the rest of the day chilling out or visiting with family until the rehearsal. Our coordinator is handling all the last-minute vendor check-ins, so that takes a lot of the finalizing off my plate. We're taking off for our honeymoon the Sunday after, so I'll be taking the next week off. I may also take off the Monday and Tuesday afterwards just to get everything reorganized.

I plan on taking off the day before, which is a Friday, for our Saturday (12/3/22) wedding. The week before is the week of Thanksgiving, so I’ll have most of the week off from work and be able to work on and finalize anything that I can and then just have small stuff and decorating to do the day before the wedding. If I can’t get as much accomplished in the 1 - 2 weeks before, I may also take off that Wednesday and Thursday, but I’d rather save my time in case I want to take off a little longer after we get back from the honeymoon.

We’re taking off the week before and after our Friday wedding and then honeymoon the week after. But we also own our own business and can make our own schedule. The flip side is if we don’t take off that amount of time we won’t have time to do things we need to do together like go get our marriage license. We also have our rehearsal dinner on Thursday night.

I'll be working Monday/Tuesday of our wedding week, with the rest of the week (and the entire following week) off work. My FH can only take off Friday/Saturday of the wedding week and has a vacation week the week after.

My wedding was a Tuesday so I worked the full week beforehand and then had Saturday-Monday to prepare. 3 days felt like the right amount of time to me since I had lots of help and support from my family.

I’m taking the whole week before and after off, but our wedding is 9/10/22 so the Saturday after Labor Day so it is really only 4 work days off that first week and 5 the following week. I don’t really know what I’m going to do with myself, but I’m sure I’ll find stuff to do plus with so many people in town, it will be nice to just relax!
