How many colors are you using?

>>>Insert Ty's New Gangsta Name Here<<<, on September 2, 2010 at 4:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 39

The rule used to be two, right? All the weddings in the 80s and early 90s I went to included a pastel (yuck) and an even lighter pastel (double yuck).

Fuschia, Chocolate Brown with cream accents. So I guess 3, although I don't really count the cream.

LMAO @ Sharon. That was soooooo 1980s style, right? But why??? It was as if there was a rule stating you must use pastels during a wedding, or Easter Sunday.

I'm sure your gown was beautiful Smiley smile The BMs weren't supposed to have hotness back in the day...apparently that was another style rule. lol

I am rapidly becoming an "anti-colors" fanatic. A wedding reception is a party. In no other party do you assume that everything has to be one of two colors--why should you for a wedding? So long as everything looks good together, it shouldn't matter if it is one color, two, or some larger number.

If pressed, I'd probably say that our colors were gold, brown, burgundy, and pink. (We also used a lot of ivory, but that is apparently considered a neutral, not one of our colors.) However, our ketubah (Jewish wedding contract) was a swirl of bright primary colors. That artwork became a recurring theme in our wedding, since we displayed the ketubah at both the ceremony and the reception, and also used the artwork on invitations, programs, photo sharing cards, etc. Also, the burgundy was used at the ceremony but not at the reception, and the brown was used at the reception but not the ceremony. Our wedding was not invalidated by any of this.

Our "neutral" is Ivory (my dress, FG dresses, etc) and our 2 MAIN colors are DBs wine and cognac, but we're including variations on all of the fall leaf colors in the minor details.

I used hot pink and black with red accents. I think as long as it blends you are ok. Good luck!

@2nd Bride I swear I must be experiencing deja-vu because I could have sworn I've read where you posted the same thing before, about being an "anti-color" fanatic. Good stuff!

So far we are using two blues and hot pink and white in the flowers. I probally add reds, oranges and other colors since our theme is baseball and we love many teams that use multiple colors for their uniforms. Only solid color is royal blue which is being used for attire for my bridesmaids and the younger gentlemens shirts. My FH decided they should wear tartan ties which bring in green, dark and light blues, red, yellow and white or off white tones.

Oh, and at least I'm consistent! At my first wedding in 1977, I had no colors that I know about. My MOH was told to wear a nice dress, with no specification of color. I had no other female attendants. And aside from some flowers (mostly white as I recall), we did not make any attempt to decorate either the synagogue where we were married, or the restaurant where we had our reception.

Aww Sharon! I'm sure it was nice for the 80s. I'm a 70s baby/80s kid and I swore my neon tops and socks to match was the shyt!

I used three (fall colors): Fern green, Gold, and burnt orange. I was scared it would come out old fashioned because I didnt see too many weddings with that combo but I loved it! I have a few pics on my page.

This person created an I. Board with 7 colors...with my peacock theme. I want more blue than anything, but this person has more purple. I just think it could be a hot mess, if not done corre

Red Gold and Ivory only because they really compliment the venue well.

2d Bride, I agree! I don't plan on using only two colors or making everything match. I personally think having only two colors, with EVERYTHING matching, looks weird and dated. Kinda like bad prom decorations. But that's just me Smiley smile
