How many bartenders needed?

futuremrsrichardson, on March 26, 2018 at 8:37 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 16
My wedding is at a venue where you have to bring all of your vendors in. I am having three bars, two outside & one inside. I was thinking 4 - 2 inside & 2 outside. Keep in mind the wedding is in Texas where there are very specific alcohol laws. No alcohol can be self serve and at my venue must be served from behind the bar. Any thoughts on this?

We are having approx 120 people with 2 bartenders and a bar back. Self Serve is not an option for us either.

I have heard for every 150people it should be 1 bartender..so you should need 2 --granted if you're planning on having essentially 3bars running at the same time then you'll need 3

I’d do one bartender inside and one outside! Coming from a seasoned bartender Smiley smile

It also depends on the size of th bar itself- don’t try to stick 2 bartenders in a super small space. I had a wedding with 116 people and we had 6 bartenders... we just wanted to be extra sure that no one had to wait in line for a drink!

I'd say 4 is necessary, especially at the beginning of the reception when everyone is trying to get their first drink.

We have 160 guests on our list, currently and there will be two bar tenders & they have assistants to make runs, if it is ever needed

My DOC told me 1 bartender to every 100 guests is what they recommend. We thought that seems a bit light with how many heavy drinkers we're having so we're doubling up bartenders at at least one of the two bars (3, maybe 4 bartenders for our 150 guests).

The outside bars will be smaller but the larger bar inside could hold two.

As a bartender 1 to serve 150 people would be totally overwhelming and there would be lines. I think your plan of 4 is a great fit to not kill the bartenders and to keep the drinks flowing.

I believe that most bartending services say: 1 bartender per 50-60 guests. Since you are talking about having 175 guests, you should expect to have 4 bartenders at your reception, which isn't bad considering, not every last person will probably be drinking.
