How man PRO wedding photos are you putting on social media?

Katie, on November 20, 2016 at 9:19 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 34

We just got our photos back from our photographer. I will be posting some shortly! Smiley laugh As I'm looking through them there are so many I love and want to share. Problem is I've always thought that people who post like 100 pictures of their wedding, baby, or engagement are kinda bragging in a way I guess. Idk I mean no one wants to look through that many photos. I want to make sure that my family/bridesmaids/groomsmen get all the photos they are in but I don't want to have my entire wedding plastered all over FB. So how are you going about sharing your photos online? Did you set a limit of photos to be shared?

I used one as my profile and one as my cover on Facebook. I hate when everyone posts all of the 8000 photos they received back. It drives me crazy and I think it's annoying. We received a link to our online gallery and sent it to anyone who wanted to see it (my family, FILS, etc) but we were against putting them all on social media.

Idk, my friend only posted like 10 from her wedding and I was kind of disappointed because she didn't include the one I wanted to use as my profile picture lol. I actually really enjoy looking through people's wedding pictures!

I was planning on posting a bunch of my family and friends from the reception because I know they'll enjoy seeing them. Maybe a handful from the ceremony/BP pictures that we did before the ceremony? And a few that H and I did by ourselves. Absolutely not all of them.

I totally agree with you on the oversharing. I really don't understand why people post 75 engagement pictures on Facebook. What's really the point of them, anyway? Besides from picking one to put on the STD? We didn't even send STDs, but one of my friends took a few nice pictures of us at our alma mater. I think I posted maybe 5 of those on Facebook.

Meh...people that usually post one or two over a long period of time annoy me. I say post them all at once and be done with it. I, personally posted enough that told the story of the day. I think I have about 100 in our album.

I like seeing wedding pics. I put up about 30 or so on Facebook. Its the taking a picture of your dog or kid every single day and posting a new one that gets on my nerve. Wow, kid ate mac and cheese and made a mess. Zippadee doo da.

I'm fine with people posting one album of however many pictures. Then I can look at all of them, or just scroll past. The ones who post a photo a week for the entire first year of their marriage I do find a bit irritating.

If they're in an album, it's not hurting anyone. I'm going to post all of the photos we look good in. ;-)

It doesnt matter to me how many photos people on my Facebook post as long as they are in an album. I do roll my eyes at people who continuously post one or two photos a day for weeks. The album pops up, I can look at the photos if I want, then it filters down. The ongoing photo stream takes over my page for weeks.

I'm not sure what I will do with our photos yet. We are having our ceremony with just the two of us, so I know that our family will be interested in the whole suite of photos, but I dont want to post that many for everyone to see. I will probably just post a few on FB, and have some sort of dropbox folder for family.

I'd make an album and post your top 30 or so. People can look through if they want or just like your album.

These are great responses! I definitely didn't think of the album idea (I typically only post maybe 15-20 photos a year). I definitely find that I'm annoyed if I see photos of the same exact shot multiple times but I also do like looking through other people's wedding photos. We will probably go through and select the best.

On a side note: Has anyone taken the photos of their bouquets, venue, cake, etc and sent them to their vendor? We have some amazing shots of our venue/decor and I want to share them with our vendors but didn't know if that was weird. Also our photographer requires any photo posted online gives him credit. How do I make sure these vendors give credit where it is due?

I plan on going through all the photos and picking out our favorites to put in an album on the internet. That's what I did with our engagement photos. Out of about 50 edited photos, I put 12 on facebook. For the wedding, I don't see putting more than 50 up. That's just me though, I think it's annoying when people post a massive amount of pictures, especially when they post a couple of pictures a day over the course of a few weeks.

I posted about 10 on Facebook in an album, so it all came up as one post on the wall and then I put every picture on my blog, for people who wanted to look at them all.

Vendors LOVE it when you send them pro photos of their work. Definitely do this. It's so nice. (I do marketing for a lot of wedding vendors and this is seriously the best thing ever).

But do remind them who your photographer is so they can credit appropriately if they share on social media.

I think one album is totally fine! Half of my pictures are of the guests anyway and I know they want their pictures.

Yeah for me it's annoying when you keep posting on different timeline so it covers your whole wall even when you scroll down vs. posting all at once so it just pops up once. It should be fine!

I say post as many as you want. Those who don't want to look don't have to!
