A friend of mine met her husband, got engaged and married in a matter of 6 months and it got me thinking how stressed I would be if I planned a wedding in the 2 1/2 month time frame that she did. My FH and I have been together for 5 1/2 years and when we get married we will have been engaged for 1 year and 4 months. How long is your engagement?
We started dating at the end of May 2017, started planning the wedding in mid-October 2017. He officially proposed on Christmas 2017. We'll be married May 2018. Engagement will be just under 5 months. It will be 354 days from our first date to saying "I do".
My FW proposed on Christmas, which was 1 1/2 years that we have been together. We’re getting married October 2020, so we’re having a 2 years and 10 months engagement.

My daughter is in the middle of a 6 month engagement. I have to say, though, that she knew it was probably coming, and she found her dress months before being engaged.
Pros of a shorter engagement:
1. You make choices, and then don't second-guess them. You don't have time for second-guessing.
2. By necessity, you focus on the most important pieces of a wedding first. Venue, guest list, caterer.
Cons of a shorter engagement:
1. Less time to save up money.
2. If you are very particular about all the details of your wedding, and you want to have everything chosen from All the options out there, you would probably want a longer engagement.
Met in May of 2013. Started dating October 30th, 2013. Engaged December 21st, 2017. Wedding is June 15th, 2019. 17 month engagement and we will have been together a little over 5 1/2 years by wedding day!
Our wedding day is on 08/11 by that time we would be engaged for 2 years and 2 mos. Just because weddings are expensive, we took our time with the planning and all.
