How long will it be from the day you got engaged until the day you get married? My husband and I originally planned for a one year engagement, but thanks to COVID, it turned into a three year engagement!

Somewhere between a year and two years seems to be the most common length for an engagement! I think it's the perfect length to comfortably plan everything, but still be soon enough to where it doesn't feel like forever, and you can still hold on to the wedding excitement the entire time.

Thanks! ♥ The three years actually went by way quicker than I thought it would, which was so surprising! Our wedding turned out amazing and I don't regret anything. That's so exciting that you are finishing grad school this year! Awesome that you've got most of your vendors booked. The catering tastings are a fun part of the wedding planning process (and delicious, lol). And congratulations on finding your dress!! I'd love to see a photo of what it looks like!
So I’m actually now just planning an actual wedding. My husband and I got engaged in 2020 and we planned a fall wedding but so much ended up falling through and we lost a lot of deposits so we just eloped and decided that five years from the day we eloped, we would have a Wedding.

Oh wow, awesome! Congratulations on your recent engagement!! How fun that you are starting 2023 with an engagement, and ending the year with a wedding. How is your wedding planning going? What all have you gotten planned so far?

The home stretch was stressful for me as well, there are so many things that needed my attention that I wasn't able to do ahead of time! Seating chart (had to wait for RSVPs), putting together welcome bags (didn't want the snacks to go stale by doing it too far in advance), etc. You're almost there though! What do you have left to do?
My wedding planning process is pretty much over! We had our wedding back in July 2022, though had a few tasks remaining for after the wedding. We just got our wedding video back last week, and so I have one more vendor review left to write. We also still need to finish writing thank you notes to our wedding party, and finish selling some of our decor, but otherwise, everything else is done! My dresses are cleaned and preserved, bouquet is preserved, thank you notes to guests are written, honeymoon completed, and almost all of our vendor reviews are submitted. So now, we just get to enjoy life together as a married couple!

Sorry to hear that you lost a lot of deposits! 2020 was a crazy year, my husband and I somehow made it through without losing any deposits, but we did lose a couple vendors once we postponed (one to retirement and she refunded our deposit, and one to going out of business and I had to fight to get my deposit back). Eloping is a beautiful idea! Did you go to a destination for it? Your five-year anniversary will be a wonderful time to host your wedding celebration! How is your wedding planning going?

A year is a good length for an engagement! Enough time to get all your plans together, but short enough to where you aren't waiting too long for the wedding. How is your wedding planning going?

Ooh nice!! That's awesome that you don't have a lot of work you have to do for it, and even better that you are saving yourselves a lot of money. Beach weddings are so pretty! Is it a destination wedding? Or a beach near where you live?
My engagement was 3 years, almost to the day! We intended for it to be 1 year, but then COVID happened, and we postponed from 2020 to 2022. We finally got to have our wedding this past July! We didn't have any vendors included in our venue package, so we had a bit of extra work in finding and booking everyone we needed, but our vendors were all amazing, and I'm so thankful for each one of them!
Our will be two years. He proposed in October of 2022 and we also plan to get married around the same time in 2024. Totally fine with the long engagement.
