How long do you give for the rsvp date?

Amy, on December 28, 2017 at 11:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
My wedding is in April and per the WW timeline we need to send out invites end of February. We already got our invitations but we hated the RSVP card that came with it so I'm ordering something else this weekend. But for the RSVP date is a month before our wedding day enough, not enough, what'd you do? TIA

Often the rsvp date is determined by the date the venue/caterer needs final numbers. Add another week to 10 days to follow up with non- responders before that date.

Getting married May 19. We need final numbers to venue 3 weeks in advance. So we’re doing an RSVP of April 21 so we have a week to track down non responses. Sending out invites midMarch. I think you should be fine with your time frame. I’d just be sure to give yourself at least a week before your venue headcount date in case you need to contact people.

We're getting married on January 5th. We had out RSVP date on December 6th, and then for those that didn't know, we told them they had until December 15th.

We sent out invitations out in Early november.

Our final numbers need to be in a week before so our rsvp date is March 5th, giving a week for straggling rsvps to roll in, and another week to call people that didn’t send it back at all. My WW timeline says to send invites Jan 8th. And as excited as I am to get them in the mail, that would give guests 2 months to sit on rsvps and forget to send them back. So I’m thinking of sending them out closer to Jan 20th. 8 weeks before the wedding and 6 weeks with the invites out before due dates.

Long stort short. Go by the date you need final
numbers, take 2 weeks from that, and I say 6 weeks before that send them out.

Thanks everyone! Our venue told us we needed to finalize numbers and menu two weeks before the wedding. I think we'll give ourselves maybe another week or two of cushion then to chase the people who don't respond on time since we have people across the country and over in Italy.

Our caterer needs a headcount 2 weeks before so our RSVP date will be 3 weeks before to give me time to track people down.

We asked our caterer for a suggestion on the date since the final count is mainly needed for catering. They needed their count 2 weeks before, but recommended we set the date for 3 weeks before to accommodate late RSVPs and give us a week to contact those that hadn't RSVP'd in time.
