How long did your thank-you cards take to complete?

MrsMitch , on September 5, 2017 at 9:44 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 22

How long did it take you to complete your thank you cards? We went on a short trip right after the wedding and I've been traveling for work the past couple weeks so I just got started this weekend. My hand hurts already! Hoping to get them all finished by this weekend. How long did it take you to finish?

On another note, is anyone else surprised at the number of guests who don't even give a card? I'm not talking about a physical gift or money but just simply a card from the Dollar Tree to say "Best Wishes" or "Congratulations"? My husband's immediate family falls in this category and I think it sends a loud message how they really feel about me. It's kind of hurtful.

We're doing ours as we receive gifts to hopefully take off some of the burden for after the wedding. They do take a while though, especially because my FH wants both of us to write in every one.

And i wouldn't take the no card thing personally. Honestly, i had to tell my FH that even if he cant attend a wedding he should send a gift. Some people just dont think about it/realize. Do i think it's lame that they didn't give you a card/gift? Yeah. But oh well.

I worked on them for like, 3 nights. I think I probably spent a total of an hour or 2. Ive only had to write 25 ish thank you cards so far. And yeah there were quite a few people who didn't give us anything, but I'm not upset about it. They came to our wedding which was the most important thing to me. And some people send gifts after the fact. I'm proud that I'm done already. I wanted to hurry and get them out of the way.

I'm a little ashamed so say it took me almost three weeks to finish my bridal shower thank you's. I'm hoping with FH's help the wedding thank you's will go faster.

Before you get upset about FH's family's gifts....is this the ONLY message you're receiving about how they feel about you? How do they feel about your husband? Unless he received a card addressed only to him then it's probably not what you think. Not giving a gift could be for any number of reasons.

We wrote ours as gifts came in. After our wedding, we had a two-week honeymoon. We had all the rest out four weeks after we got home.

And yes, we had several people who didn't give a card. It was hurtful. I'm sorry Smiley sad

I'm dreading this a bit. I told FH that we ought to keep a list then divide and conquer but I know I'm going to have to twist his arm a bit.

It took me about 4 hours to write out 60 thank you's for my bridal shower. I did them by myself. And made them personal, so the messages were long.

With the wedding we'll do them together and I hope it won't take more than a few hours.

My plan was to do all of them in a weekend...that didn't work out! So, it took like 2 weeks doing 5 cards per day after diner time (15-20 min/day). We still need to send 2 card for gift that we received after the wedding

You all getting them done in less than a week are my motivation. My goal is to get them all out by the weekend which will still be less than a month from the wedding.

I only had about 35 to write and it took me like 2 days.

ETA and we had a few people come to our wedding without even so much as a card, so the fact that you got ANYTHING from some people is more than I can say!

I had them out a little over 2 months from the wedding. I had planned on doing them right after the honeymoon but as soon as I got back I got offered a new job. So with the transition of closing out my old job and training and then learning all the new stuff at the new job, it settled down right around March so I sent them out then. It took me about a week of doing like an hour or two a night after dinner to finish them all.

We left the Monday morning (early) after our Saturday evening wedding, returning home the next Monday (late), and we had them in the mail within two weeks of the wedding - did a large number of them at the airport waiting for flights and on airplanes

I think it took me a little over two weeks, but I only did like 2 or 3 cards a night.

It took me 3-4 weeks to finish my bridal shower thank yous, but I'm usually very busy during the week and then had events weekend after weekend. I had about 30 cards and I tried to write personal aspects in each one. I'm hoping it doesn't take that long to do the wedding thank yous.

We're date twins and I finished mine yesterday

I've been told 1 month is great, 3-6 months is normal, and etiquette technically says a year

It felt like it took forever!! We had to write probably 140 thank yous, and it took us about 2 weeks. We did the same as @Felicia and each wrote 5 per day.

I had all my bridal shower thank yous out within a week so I felt like the pressure was on to get my wedding thank yous done quickly. I started them on the plane to/from our honeymoon and probably had them done within a week of returning. We had about 230 guests.
