Okay my fellow summer brides. Since my wedding is planned for July the sun sets around 9pm. Our venue has a barn with gorgeous sunset views and lights hanging from the ceiling, plus a fire pit outside. So I was originally planning the ceremony to start at 3, but now I think it would be gorgeous to have the sunset and part of the reception at night time. Mostly for pictures as well. The guests are only both of our large families and just a few friends. I don't see them staying a really long time for the reception. Is 5pm too late for a ceremony so the reception could be later? What do you ladies have planned?

I think 5pm is a good time but like Celia mentioned, check with your venue. I went to a wedding that started at 6pm and the pictures were lovely. I am getting married next June and will have the ceremony start at 4pm.

Sunset for us is going to be around 8:45 and we're having a 6pm ceremony. All the lighting will be awesome and I have every intention of asking the photographer to steal us for some sunset shots if possible.

We're getting married at the end of August and plan on having a 6 pm ceremony. It is on a Tuesday though so we want to make sure our friends and family with kids in school have plenty of time to make it. Sunset photos are an added bonus that I am super excited about though!

I was going to have my ceremony at my venue and that would have started at 6 but I'm now having it church so it has been moved to 4.

My ceremony is starting at 5:30pm. Sunset in New Orleans should be around 7:45-8pm so I figure people will arrive at the reception venue (3 miles from church) around 6:30 which is perfect so its still light out.

4:30 ceremony, reception after. Taking pics before ceremony off site; but will try to get away for some pics in the evening hours. There is a huge block party where they close streets right across the street from our venue; where I 'wanted' to take pictures we now have to buy tickets at $150 each, AND they don't allow professional cameras... sooooo.... trying to find a Plan B.

6pm. We'll do most photos before, and sneak out of the reception for a couple sunset pics of just FH and I. Reception will end at midnight.

Ceremony is 6:30. Our extensive cocktail hour and a half starts immediately after the ceremony which should be 10-15 mins. Our venue offers so much food during cocktail hour that we hope most people won't be too hungry for dinner at 8.

Our ceremony is at 6pm. Cocktail hour will start immediately following the ceremony and I think is supposed to be over at 7:30, when dinner will start.
