How late is too late for engagement pictures?

Babebet, on December 6, 2013 at 10:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 27

Hi! I'm Mandy and I'm new! I'm getting married March 1, 2014 and one thing I've always wanted was to get engagement pictures done. But with scheduling and time we haven't yet. With our wedding less than 3 months away is it too late to take them? My FMIL commented it was too late, and well as my FH. I am kind of upset because this is not something I wanted to miss out on.

What do y'all think?

Never too late! Even if you don't use them for save the date.. You can use them in your wedding reception... Guest book.. Just as framed pics..etc. Who doesn't want fab pics of you and your FH! Do it!

Do it! You're still engaged…I bet you could set up a session in plenty of time…you might not get them back in time to use them at the wedding but you will have them forever!

My wedding is in late Jan and I did mine the first week of Nov. We're using ours for our guest book.

I'm so glad to hear that! Especially SoonToBe! I'm pretty much in that same situation. That makes me feel so much better, I was so upset about not having them and my FH thinking couldn't do them.

It definitely depends on what you want to use them for. My FH and I taking our save-the-date pictures on Sunday and we'll send our STDs out in January or February. Then we'll take engagements pictures in April or May to go out with our invitations. You can definitely take some to display at your wedding and just to have to remember this time in your life before you got married. Smiley smile

    Not to late!

you can use them for multiple things and you will always have them to look back on as a time when you two were engaged. Embrace your engagement Smiley smile

Plus some people don't have very many pics of them and FH and this will give you an opportunity to have good, professional pictures of you two

If you do them with the photog you're using for your wedding, it's also a great way to start becoming comfortable in front of the camera

I agree that it's a good way to test being out with your photographer. You'll also see if either of you tend to do funny habits that make you look bad - slouching, head up/down, etc. One thing that husband did that I noticed was when he had his face up against mine, he pushed too hard so it looked like we were straining! I know it sounds rediculous but we didn't feel like we were doing anything wrong at the time of the pictures!

It's only too late if you had a passed seasonal theme in mind. Find out the photographer's estimated turnaround time, and delivery of STD's, sign in album, prints etc. whatever it is you want from it. I've done them anywhere from 6-9 months to one month before the wedding. 1 month isn't ideal. But your situation is fine, many engagements are shorter these days, and people are booking their vendors later I am guessing due to financial reasons.

Never too late, they are essentially just nice family photos. You can take them whenever.

We haven't done ours, either. They come with our wedding package, but I haven't been "on it" enough to schedule a shoot. I hope we can get a slot in the next month, but worse comes to worse, we'll do it after the wedding and just have awesome photos of us.

YEAH for people named Mandy!!!! Best name ever! lol

Welcome and congrats on the engagement. No one ever needs to really know when the pictures were taken. 10 years from now it wont matter when, it just will matter that you did them!

I definitely do not think it is too late! You are only engaged once (hopefully), so do it now so that you do not regret it later!!
