How has my website been viewed so many times? Kind of creepy...

Mine has over 600 views and we only invited 200 people haha I even password-locked it but I can just search and find it so Idk :/

Thank you AMKing. I have erased my counter 3 times and I am sure I have had that many. I have 185 right now. Every day more and more. I know it isn't my guests. I was wondering if I was the only one.

They are VERY searchable-- through your FB if you put it on there, through your registries, often through the site itself. The Knot allows people to find it by searching for a bride or groom's name. Put a password on it if it bothers you.

I might but apparently it doesn't really work according to AMKing (600!). I would but my STD are out and I am afraid my guests want to log back on for information (flights etc). Oh..well... I wish I knew this before I sent them.

I put a password on our site and sent out the password in our invites. 150 views, 155 invited, so I think it worked to keep strangers out.

Every time anyone looks at any of your pages, it's a view. So me logging in, looking at your BP info, then hotel info, then registries, then another page is 5 views from one person.

So if each of your 200 guests looks at 3 individual pages on your site, you'll easily show 600 views.

My website doesn't work that way with the views. Once you look at it, unless you close out of it click in again, it's just one view. I've tested mine out already when I show people. I just type the address in like any normal guest would.

ETA: I just looked to make sure refreshing the page didn't add views. It doesn't on mine. I use the free WW website.

Thank you Christie. Its probably my Fb and friends of mine who know that I am getting married being nosey. I am sure its searchable by names and etc. There isn't really anything that needs to be private, I just find it a little weird. I guess that is internet...nothing is private. Lol.

There is a setting under the settings tab of your webpage for making it searchable on WW. If it is clicked, you are searchable, if it is not clicked, your webpage is not searchable. There is also a button for linking to your profile. Those might be settings to look into if you are not keen on a password but want a little more privacy.

I also left our last names off when building our last names...just simply used our first initials. This has resulted in us not being searchable via the web either.

Also every time you look at it.counts as a view.

I have found the same thing! My theory is that the counters could be faking some views?

Hear me out .... I had a ton of views before the wedding. Awesome - loved it!

Then after the wedding I kept getting a steady number of hits over time. Very even and predictable. Minus my actual guests views. I have since erased my website and just have an empty page up. You know what? Still the same number of even hits.

That's my theory anyway.

Wow! Thank you everyone. Very informative all of you. I appreciate this information. I don't mind my WW friends on my site. I tell and ask advice all the time from you all. Its the general public, but its fine. I am glad Im not the only one being stalked or "faked" stalked.

I think we're all a little secretly jealous I know I am, I would of given anything to be married in Italy! FH is full blooded Italian but all his family that he knows about is on the East Coast. He had family involved in the Mafia, so we aren't too sure where they are now haha Can't wait to see your pics!! Beautiful wedding in Italy!
