How far in advance did you book your makeup artist?

Just get it done! I finally booked one about 3 months out, and I had a heck of a time even finding one still available for my day!

Hmmmm...I'm still more than a year out but now I'm wondering if I should book her early.

Well, my fsil, is a licensed make-up artist, and hair stylist so, I don't have to stress with booking, but, idk, maybe 3-4 months before hand?

I booked mine in April for my October wedding, so 6 months. My trial is not until September. Her portfolio is and prices are what I based my decision on. I don't have the money for trying various stylists before booking.

I haven't booked mine until I did a trial with her. I see most of you have booked without a trial, should I be doing that??

I wouldn't book w/o a trial. I had my trial first and then I booked. If you book before your trial then you may end up with someone who isn't a good fit. MUA will do trials w/o your having to book them. It will cost the same (the trial) either way.

About 7 months in advance. I was told to book early especially because of wedding season and there was less than one year from when we got engaged to when we plan on getting married

I booked mine a couple weeks ago for next Memorial Day. I had some tell me they were booked already bc it's a holiday weekend. You should start looking now and narrowing it down this way you know you get the MUA you want. Most of the MUAs I spoke to suggested waiting till 6 weeks before the wedding to do the trial bc brides often change their minds on styles etc before the big day and you don't want to pay for extra trials. BUT if you need some time to save for a MUA deposit then don't freak out that you're running out of time. I'm just saying I think the sooner u can check stuff off ur list the better.

Depending on how popular and sought after your desired makeup artist is, I would say book your trial and complete the process immediately. Even if they are not sought after, go ahead and book who you'd like. It's a great feeling knowing that you don't have much left to do, because as the day approaches your to-do list will increase.

Typically they are the last vendors to get booked throughout the wedding planning process.
