Just Said Yes November 2022

How far in advance did you book your Dj?

Melany, on January 5, 2021 at 9:40 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12

My fiancé thinks I am being dramatic and rushing thing because we just engaged Christmas eve and our wedding isn't until November 2022 and I already have the venue basically booked - we go Saturday to give them the deposit. I already had a google meet with the DJ because I saw him at another wedding I went to a few years ago and he was fantastic and I loved his vibe. I just signed the contract and will be giving him the deposit within the month. But I know I like him and he's worth it but my fiancé is making me feel like bridezilla already!

We got engaged July 2019 & picked our date within a week. I wanted to book the venue ASAP, knowing our date was going to be popular (4/3/21) but my fiancé just wanted to “enjoy being engaged.” I talked to him about my fears- knowing that I’d feel better once our venue was booked. He agreed & I made appointments with 5 venues. We needed an all inclusive venue since we live 2.5 hrs away & can’t just go over at any time. We booked the venue within 2 months of being engaged. The venue’s all inclusive package has 3 different DJ’s we can choose from. We look at their reviews & go from there. I signed the contract 2 months after we booked the venue.

If it's just the DJ and venue then i think you're okay. I would just follow the wedding planning checklist on this platform

I was engaged for less than a year so I had everything booked within about two months of getting engaged.

We got engaged NYE and got married by August, so "timing" is relative.

If you're certain this is the DJ you want, then go for it! We only ever interviewed on DJ, because, like you, we'd heard her at a friend's wedding, and didn't leave the dance floor.

That said, take your time, don't stress, and always do your research!

I got engaged July 2019, we picked our date 01/27/22, in November 2019 we booked our venue. By December we had our photographer and dj booked. I don’t think it’s too early if you’re certain you like a certain vendor.

I think finding certain vendors far in advance is a good idea. I was running across a lot of booked up people when I was looking a year out from my wedding, especially with photographers and videographers. I personally probably wouldn’t have started booking that far in advance but that’s just my personality.. With everyone rescheduling due to COVID there will be a lot more people getting married this year and next year, so you want to get your pick of important vendors.

Aside from the venue, a DJ was one of the first things that we booked. I feel like I booked him like 14months in advance

We got engaged July 2020 and our wedding isn't until Jan. 2022. We've already booked several vendors, our venue, picked the date, wedding party, and we've already ordered STD's. There's no 'correct time', if you both feel confident about your choices and want to go ahead and book everything, then go ahead! It's a great idea because you have much more time to save up money and pay off your vendors!

We're probably going to meet and choose a DJ in the next few months!

My wedding is October 2021 and I booked my DJ last week! Due to COVID, a lot of people were postponing their weddings for this year which caused a lot of people to be booked already!! So I wanted to book all the "main people" like DJ, photographer, Venue early to ensure I have the date.

Def not bridezilla status, I've booked my venue, caterers, bartenders, and photographer for my July 2022 wedding and I only got engaged at the end of October. Tbh booking everything so far in advance has been awesome, every vendor I like has our date available and I've had basically zero planning stress thus far, plus passively looking is really casual anyway, why wait to start?

Definitely book major venues as soon as you can. Covid has vendors double booked this year and I'm sure that will trickle into 2022 as well. We started wedding planning just a couple of weeks ago and already have photographer, venue, and booking DJ tonight.
