How early did you order/pick out wedding cake? Getting nervous...

We booked ours fall 2015 so a bought 1.5 years in advance.... But we did that because the baker is really popular... I've seen here that most people book them 8-6 months in advanced.

I have the same date as you! We booked our baker in February of this year, I had asked about scheduling tastings in April and he thought he might have been booked by then so we went a couple months early (we're out of town from where we are getting married). I think it largely depends on location though. I'm sure someone is available, just keep looking!

We chose ours about a year out.

I'm in Oct and haven't booked mine yet. Some of my checklists didn't tell me to really start looking until now. I think it may depend on where you live and how competitive it is out there. If places near you are already booked, I'd keep calling around as clearly it's getting tight

Good luck! If all else fails, maybe look into a simpler cake through a grocery store bakery?

Hey date twin! Our cake is included with our venue, so we're going through the baker they work with. Our tasting is the beginning of June. When we called she told us that we could wait until August to do it...we told her she was crazy lol. I'd try to book someone ASAP.

My venue adds it in to the cost. We just have to pic the one we want and sample and select the flavor we want. Everyone tells me I'm doing everything to early, but I rather get it out of the way. I don't want any last minute surprises.

We're getting our cupcakes through our caterer, which we booked August 2015. We're getting married in June...

One baker told us they need 3 months, another told us they need 2. You have time.

We did ours April 3rd. We are getting married August 27th. I think it will mainly depend on if the place is very well named. I would keep looking and set up some taste testings. The business I went with is at least a month notice or more depending on the time of the year and if it is wedding season when you need it.

I'll be doing mine only two months before. Weddings CAN be planned in less than three months

We are just booking ours now for our November wedding. Cake tasting in a week! But we also JUST decided to actually do a cake after choosing not to at the beginning.

You definitely have time. I've been told my many people that bakeries can do numerous weddings on the same day, similar to florists. Of course, there are exceptions. 6 months out is definitely reasonable, unless you know the baker you want is in really high demand.

Ok thank you all for the reassurance! I will call a bunch of bakeries and hope that somewhere can help. Oh wow nastassia, that sounds like it will turn out great though!

We booked our baker about 6 months out. I'm surprised that a baker would say they are booked- the baker is one of the few vendors that CAN do multiple events in one day.

Yeah @annakay511 that's what I thought but several have said they are completely booked for September already!

I'm getting married in October and booked my wedding cake last month. My baker recommended ordering 4-6 months in advance.
