How do you pass the time of non-wedding stuff

Kimberly, on September 23, 2020 at 9:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
My wedding is 6 months out. We’ve pretty much decided on everything except our wedding bands and the groom’s/groomsman’s suits. I’m basically just counting down the days until it’s not weird to go ahead and order our invitations. And I’m having to force myself not to go buy the centerpiece items I want almost every day. I’m a big planner and I like to be prepared for everything so this waiting around mess is driving me insane!
I want to do a hair and makeup trial to get that figured out, but the HMUA I hired is not local to me so I can’t do a trial with them. I want to do one with my regular hair stylist but I can’t get her excited about doing it. Truth be told I’m a little annoyed that she keeps brushing me off about it. I mean I’m trying to give her money! Sigh. I did go to the Aveda Institute last week twice and tried an updo and a half up style and I think I like the half up style, but I need to see it from a professional and not a student. Sigh.
The waiting around is killing me. What do you ladies do to deal with the wait?

    1. Enjoy the time with your future spouse! Being married is wonderful, but so is being engaged. Their both great feelings, but different lol. 2. You can order things (unless you're worried due to COVID). I had ordered my invitations super early cuz they were on sale and they just sat in the box for a few months until it was time to send them out (this was pre-COVID though so take that as you may). 3. I'm not sure what your hair stylist's issue is. You are paying her for a service. Has she not been taking clients due to COVID? Is she refusing to schedule you for a hair appointment just because she isn't excited to do the hair trial? That's a little odd if so and very unprofessional on her part.

Not the best answer but I just make sure I stay on top of my regimens. Like working out, hair, skin and nails. I noticed my nails were thinning out so I adjusted my nutrition. I also don’t think about it. I’ve been waiting since June to have my ceremony and have postponed 2x. So for me I’m not that excited about February like I should be. LOL good luck!!!!

We’ve decided on most things as well. I’m a huge planner as well. My fiancé hasn’t decided on groomsmen, style of suit or boutonnières vs pocket squares. Our wedding is a lil over 6 months away (4/3/21) & we just ordered our invitations. We’re not mailing them out until January though. I’ve done my hair/makeup trial- just trying to find the perfect tiara. Some type of veil for pics???? I’m moving on to what my bridesmaids will carry & making those.

Thankfully for me I have my minimony in less than 2 weeks so I can plan that. We also still have to do our tasting with the caterer. Then I’ll continue looking for invitations and probably will order them around Black Friday for the deals. The holidays will come and sort of make the time go by a little faster.

Come January make a decision on if our March wedding will go forward if so mail out invitations and keep in contact with the caterer.

I honestly am not sure what she’s stalking for. I have told her several times to let me know when we can schedule for me to come in so we can play around with different styles for the wedding and she just doesn’t. A couple weeks ago when I took my daughter in to have her hair cut I thought we had a plan to also try styles for me. But she really just did a very quick, thrown together style that didn’t do anything for showing me how it would look.

Yeah I’m not a gym person. And it doesn’t help that due to Covid I had to quit my job to stay home with my daughter when schools shut down back in March. I am working part time from home but there is lots of downtime that I’m not used to so I do just obsess over wedding stuff. Ugh!

Sounds like you have gotten a lot done too. If I ordered my invitations now then I’d have to fight everyday with myself to not send them out ridiculously early.

Yeah....I would maybe be a bit more firm and tell her that you would really like to schedule some time to work on this. And if she is not interested, you will be looking elsewhere.

Spend time with your family, continue doing your hobbies, learn new skills or dishes to cook, read books on marriage/relationships, catch up with friends, exercise/diet if you want to, get your finances organized, pray for your relationship (if you are spiritual in any way), etc.

I'm a big "Acts of Service" person on the 5 Love Languages, so learning how to do new things for my FH means a lot to me, like learning new dishes to cook, giving better back/neck massage techniques, etc haha.
