How do you invite people to the rehearsal dinner, but not the rehearsal?

Sally, on August 10, 2010 at 8:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

I want to send an evite to 20 guests to attend the rehearsal dinner; however, of those 20, only 14 will need to be at the rehearsal (which has to take place at a different location than the dinner). Is this strange? Should I send an invitation for the rehearsal dinner only, and then another invitation to the rehearsal? I'm perplexed... please help! Smiley smile

I would send two invites. And the rehearsal invite probably doesn't need to be anything more than an e-mail.

You could also invite the dinner only guests to your "Night Before" the wedding dinner, rather than calling it a Rehearsal Dinner on their invitation. That way, they will not ask when and where they should show up for the actual rehearsal.

If it's an emailed Invitiation, just send 2. One to the 14 inviting to both the Rehearsal and Dinner Following, and the second to the other 6 for the Dinner. You can phrase #2 along the lines of:

The Future Mr & Mrs John Smythe would like to invite you to attend Dinner at Romero's Steakhouse, 345 steakhouse road, Porterville NY 08745 at 6 O Clock in the evening, following the Rehearsal of their Ceremony.

You can also OMIT the "Following the ..... Ceremony" bit if you like. An email doesn't cost anything, and there are some great online sites that let you track and plan things like this, including sending the invites as you design them, FREE. I'll look up my fav and post in a bit....
