How do you harness big boobs in a keyhole back dress?

Alex, on April 15, 2022 at 1:20 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

To start, I am fairly “blessed” up top (34H). I’m faced with a bridesmaid dress with a sizeable keyhole back, which creates bra challenges. The bust inserts in the dress provide little in the way of lift or support. I need support that doesn’t look tacky, lasts up to 9-10 hours, holds out on the dance floor, and doesn’t drive me crazy.

I tried a long strap that lowers the back of a regular bra, but it doesn’t pull it down low enough. The only H cup sticky bra I’ve found has awful reviews. The shop suggested purchasing a bustier or bodysuit, which I'm willing to try, but I would have to order it online (assuming I could find my size).

I’m sure I’m not the only one who has had this or a similar issue. Has anyone found a brilliant solution?

I think your best bet is one of those bras with a fancy back that is meant to be exposed and straps in the back. Or you can wear a demi cami over your bra and under your dress. Can you close the keyhole?

Unfortunately there isn't enough fabric to close the keyhole. I like your ideas but need to think about looking different than the other girls. (Everyone is wearing the same dress.) If it were my wedding and I wanted all the girls dressed the same (and honestly, that's not my thing), I'd probably be unhappy. So I would need to talk to the bride and/or convince the other girls to do the same.

Searching online, I came across a clear backed bra, and that seemed like a promising idea since the visual difference would be minor, but it didn't come in the size I need.

Oh gosh I'm so sorry the bride is putting you in this position. This is why I'm not a fan of brides making all of their bridesmaids wear the same exact dress. I'm also an H cup and I could never get away with wearing anything with a keyhole back for the exact same reasons as you. The bride should have selected a style that allowed you to accommodate wearing a supportive bra. I don't really have any advice but just here to say that I sympathize with you!

Goodlines boob tape. Watch their videos and you’ll be convinced.

I think boob tape is going to be your best friend! Tape, tape, and more tape!

I'm not sure if the fabric of the dress would allow a seamstress to add cups, but maybe they could add something in? Otherwise, I think boob tape or shapewear with a low back would be a good plan.

FWIW, I'm a 32DD and I wore a low-back bustier under my wedding dress (which also had a low back). Don't know if that would work for you, but might be worth a try?

We are the same size! I got the Goodlines boob tape and it honestly works like magic. Like... I did one boob first to compare and the tape secured and lifted it 4 or 5 inches higher than my other one! It's not for every day use but I plan to use it for my wedding. Just watch the videos and follow their instructions (like completely saturating the tape in oil before removing) and you'll be good.

What brand was it, if I might ask?

Thanks for the recommendation! Looking at the website, there is a caution about using it for more than 8 hours. I expect to need something for somewhat longer than that. But it looks like it's worth a try.

Boob tape is the only thing that will work. I’m an F cup so I feel your pain. A bodysuit and similar undergarments will not work in that situation. Same as cups that are sewn in which only pad the nipples and do nothing for lift and support.

Thank you! I think I found it. It doesn't come in my size (as usual), but I might try a sister size.

Shot in the dark, I know. Has anyone used this bra (Felina Body Veil)? It appears to be one of the few low back bras that comes in 34H.
