How do you do a grand farwell if people are riding with you?

Dulcena, on July 6, 2020 at 5:25 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

So to save on costs we are sharing our car with my MOH who is staying with us from out of town and my son when we leave the venue. Do I tell them to get in the car early? Do they get in the car after we get in? Do I tell them to sneak in on the other side? LOL

I think it’s find to have them get in after you do so they can be part of the farewell- I assume you are doing pictures as part of your exit. I wouldn’t think anything if it as a guest, no need to sneak.

I would do your big grand exit and have them waiting around the corner or something and then have them jump in afterward. It would be more awkward if they were there beforehand and you don’t want anyone sneaking around.

It's probably less awkward if they're already in the car before you get in. That way the car can drive away as soon as you get in. Just make sure neither of them is sitting in the back middle seat, so you and your new spouse don't have to awkwardly try to figure out who goes in which door.

There has never been a law saying couples must leave alone. Most people have any other passengers go out before them, and wait with the driver, just a few minutes. And leave the whole seat area you will use with full access to the door or doors. It depends on the vehicle. No need to sneak anyone in. People will figure they are riding with you. No problem.

You could do the grand farewell, leave, drive around the block, and come back to pick up MOH and son. That way, they can participate, too.

Two of my bridesmaids are staying with me at my fiance and I's apartment since they are from out of town while my fiance will be staying with his groomsmen in a hotel or at their house. We will be leaving straight from the wedding, to our mini-moon at a hotel resort in our city and will be gone for two nights, in an Uber and leaving the car to my bridesmaids to drive back to our apt so they can have it for emergencies. So that's how we are doing the grand exit, but if you are both going to the same place they could either already be in the car or be net to it as you walk out? Just a couple ideas. Smiley smile Happy planning!
