How do you calm the nerves?

Allie, on March 11, 2020 at 11:21 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12
Hey everyone, I’ve been feeling real anxious today. I won’t go into detail on what it’s about, as it’s kind of a mix of things, but I was wondering what you all do when you can just feel anxiety running through you! Honestly any tips or advice to help calm my nerves right now would be so much help! Thank you in advance ❤️

I would say you just have to focus on something else girly.

Definitely try to shift your focus to something else. I get the anxiety, mine has been pretty high the last few days. Even with my meds it just barely takes the edge off. I'm a little over 2 weeks till our wedding and it just seems like everything is falling apart. My FH is sick so I've been disinfecting the house and giving him cold meds like crazy. Hopefully everything gets better for you!

Do something mindless. Clean the house, binge some netflix. Cuddle a puppy if you can, that always helps me Smiley laugh

When I'm anxious, I write a letter to myself. It feels good to get all the words out on a page, and it feels like I'm taking all the anxious, bottled up stress and imprisoning it on a page. I'm not sure if this has the same affect for everyone, but that's a good method for me Smiley smile I also remind myself that I've been anxious about A LOT of things in life, and for the most part, everything has turned out fine.

I go for a walk, take my dogs to the dog park, paint something, or drink some wine.

Smiley smile My "go-to" is always a home spa. I light a bunch of candles in the bathroom, run a hot bath with fun additives (bubbles, color, etc.), toss on a face mask (sometimes a hair masque too) and play a bunch of music I like singing to. I'll usually paint my toenails or something after.

Binge watch a new show! I find the soapier and crazy the better. One of my favorite shows is Reign, it's a highly fictional show about Mary, Queen of Scots, and it is perfect escapism. When I'm getting stressed I turn it on because you get caught up in the show very quickly!

Baths, books, meditation, yoga, date night with my FH, pedicures, and solo movies are my go to.

    Wine.

But in all seriousness, if you are feeling anxious over wedding planning, take a break. I had started to feel incredibly anxious - so much so I was having wedding nightmares! So I took a break from weddingwire forums for a few weeks, and from wedding planning in general, and I feel SO much better!

If it's not over wedding stuff, I suggest getting into a good workout routine (I always feel better after a good run or bike ride), I also suggest talking with some close friends as they will help you see the positives in what's going on, and I also suggest doing some self love care.

You got this! Keep your head up!
