How do you bustle a tulle/lace train?

Elizabeth, on June 20, 2019 at 4:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
Seeing lots of beautiful dresses with tulle and lace and long trains which are going to be beautiful for the ceremony and pictures, but afterwards...trying to be practical here...
Seriously....

How do you bustle a lace and tulle train? Satin is easy...I can wrap my mind around that one, but finding a satin dress in my budget is proving challenging, so I'm trying to work with what I can find. Thanks for your help!

Hmm, I'm not sure but I found an older, similar discussion that might help.

Daughter's a-line ballgown had tulle and lace overskirts and a satin underskirt/lining. Daughter was highly opposed to bustles that "looked like she was pooping tulle...." The seamstress did an awesome job by doing an overbustle with the lace/tulle layers that attached with buttons at the waist (not in the middle of the butt) and an underbustle for the satin underskirt. When it was all done, once bustled, daughter's dress with a gorgeous train, looked like a gorgeous ballgown that was floor-length all the way around.

Here’s how they did mine with and without bustle. Sorry I don’t have a better angle I didn’t have anyone with me to take pics.

Your seamstress will make a few suggestions based on the dress you get and the look you want.

My dress had an all tulle train. I had what is called an underbustle. They had 15 little ties under my dress that tucked it underneath itself, then the extra tulle was tucked into the pockets created by tying the underskirt. It’s easier if you can see it. This is a photo of my skirt bustled, it just looks like I never had a train because it’s all tucked under the dress.

Hey Elizabeth! Have you consulted your seamstress about this?
