I've been with my fiance for 6 years and 8 months now. We've had our ups and downs and relationships were never my strong suit. To be honest, I told him if he didn't propose by the 5th year i was gone. I'm too old to play the faithful girlfriend forever or so I thought. I honestly gave up being asked to be his wife. I was happy, he treats my daughter well, i love his son, we bought a house together and that's all that mattered. My mom passed away in 2015. My dad was sick and going through chemo in 2018. I had to fly back from a business trip because they called me to say my dad was dying. My fiance, then boyfriend asked to speak to my dad alone. My dad was not talking, slowing his breathing but could hear. He asked for my hand in marriage, that was July 2018. He wanted to propose in Como Dec 2018 but everyone told him it was too soon. Only my child and my sisters knew. They kept the secret pretty well and helped him with my engagement ring details. We planned a Costa Rican trip and he planned the engagement there with the help of Tabacon spa. It was the most beautiful romantic propsal I could have hoped for in the rainforest with our own private chef, photographer, and waitress. So how did you get proposed to? Oh wow! So touching. My FH had a friend (who was also getting married at the time) take me into a ring store so I thought nothing of it. Thought it was something for herself. She ended up getting information from me about the kind of ring I like.

As a college graduation gift his parents took us on a cruise. It was captains night so we were dressed up and after dinner we went to the top deck to take photos. When we hugged up to take the photo he saw how cold I was and "Ars you really that cold"?
I basically yelled at him and said yes lol. He said "Maybe this will warm you up" and then got down on one knee. I was beyond surprised especially when I noticed the ring in the box was the one I picked out in the store. He planned for her to get the info so he could buy it.

My FH did it on Christmas Eve. He told me we were unwrapping Christmas presents which we did. Then he said now for the big present. He told me to close my eyes. When I opened them he was on one knee. He proposed in front of the Christmas tree in our home where we had our first kiss. He even filmed it. I was not expecting it at all. I loved it.

That’s so sweet! I love the thought put into proposals for different people. My fiancé had apparently been planning his proposal with his mom and my best friend for a year. I’m a big time Christmas lover and my favorite thing ever is to cut down our Christmas tree. I was secretly hoping that this year he’d do it then, but our dog had to get some treatments that he offered to pay for so I knew money was tight for him and expected nothing. We went to the tree farm with the dog that day (in matching outfits because we are nerds) and started looking for the tree. Once I found it, we squatted down to take a picture with the dog. I got back up, but he stayed down and got on his knee and asked me to take his last name. It was perfect and I was so shocked I didn’t answer for a good 3 minutes lol. I wouldn’t change a thing about it!

Your story is so sweet! I'm sorry for your loss but glad that things worked out for you guys.

My FH is a shy and overthinking man. It wasn't really a surprise - we picked out the ring together because he wanted to be sure I'd love it, and I'd already found my ring online and fallen head over heels for it. It needed to be resized because I am definitely not a size 7, and I stopped being fully aware of the process. One night he insisted that we go to the restaurant where we had our first date, and as we were preparing to leave he got flustered. This was September in Texas, a good 99 degrees, but he pulled on his hoodie and insisted he was cold. I had a pretty good idea what was coming, especially when he spent most of the dinner talking nervously much like our first dinner. After we walked outside, and he got down on one knee and asked. It was so perfect and so sweet! I cried.

So sweet... I was dating the I am never getting married guy, I had been married once before and had a teenage son with no wants for anymore, so he suited me perfect. I didn't care about the marriage. He surprised the HELL out of me! A random Wednesday in February, the night before leaving for my best friends bachelorette party weekend he took me to our favorite dinner place and winery. The winery was closed but he knew he wanted to do it there. I was SHOCKED to say the least. It was a surprise I didn't even know I wanted!

We have been together 6 six years as well. My fiancé proposed on my parents 28th wedding anniversary on the beach at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. He made sure my whole family was there and even had them surprised no one knew he was going to propose. It was perfect we were all shocked and ecstatic! He did good!

Aw sweet story.

We were at home Friday night. And it was just a night in. Came out from a shower and was just in the bedroom painting my nails and then he asks me to come look out the window. I didn't want to aha I was busy painting my nails. But he kept pushing me to. Then finally I said ok ok gosh and then I see in candles and rose petals he has spelled out I love you, marry me? And then I turn around and he's on his knee. And I cry and I say "yes but I wish you'd have proposed to me when I had pants on". That was the kicker. I didn't have any pants on because it was just a regular night in xD

My FH asked my on Christmas Eve and I was so suprised! Did not expect it at all. Also because we were only together for like a year and a half at that time and in my culture people usually wait a lot longer.

Very sweet. I love that he asked your dad first, and let him know, before he passed.

We didn't have a proposal. We decided to book a longer cruise than usual and I said, 'You know, we could make this our honeymoon cruise.' And he said, 'OK'. And the rest is history.
