How did you start looking for your dress?

Jessica, on October 4, 2019 at 9:25 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

I'm wondering how you guys started looking for a dress? Did you start off by going to a salon, or looking in magazines or online? Did you have a style or anything like that in mind or did you just start looking open-minded?

I looked at dresses online and had an idea of what I liked, but I went into the actual shopping with an open mind. The dress I actually bought is basically the opposite of what I was interested in.

That's interesting that you ended up buying the opposite. It pays to not always be set on one specific style.

I started looking online so I could figure out what I liked and didn't like. I started that the day after he proposed LOL

I started looking WAY before we got engaged. And had a few things saved
    1) my sister got engaged before me
    2) I was ready to be married
    3) i knew the proposal was coming.
So, we went shopping within a month of me saying yes! But, I had no idea what i wanted. I thought i wanted something illusion, with sleeves, definitely not strapless and not a sheeth or mermaid cut. I didn’t give the lady much direction and told her i was open. I wound up choosing a strapless fit and flare, but I added off the shoulder straps.
I wish I would have looked more and made it more of a point to try on and take note of the different styles/silhouettes I was putting on. I was caught up in the oh my goodness I’m trying on Wedding dresses moment.
    Giod luck and have fun!

I started looking by going to the stores. I know what I feel most comfortable in so chose some ideas I saw online to try in store. Most of the dresses I saw online looked WAAAYYY different on my body than I expected. Every dress store experience will be different and so will their selection. Good luck!

I looked online for months and it was a complete waste of time because what I ended up liking on myself was so different than everything I pinned. You really don’t know til you try it on.

    Hi there!

    Magazines and then online.

Once I identified the color (💜) that I wanted, it was easy.

    I then decided that I wanted a 👰👗with color.

So, that’s exactly what I got (ordered from out of the country over a year before I needed it).

I started by looking at Pinterest. I saved pics of everything that I liked then checked for a pattern. My pattern was bling, sparkle, and lots of beading. When I finally visited wedding salons, I told the consultant I wanted bling, sparkle, and beading and let her choose the cut and neckline.

I think its important to look online and see if there is one consistent thing that you like (halter necklines, a bold interesting detail, backless, etc.). Happy dress hunting!

Pinterest baby! Between that, Say Yes to the Dress (#unashamedguiltypleasure) and wedding websites' style quizzes, it helped me learn the lingo and define what I liked and wanted

I started looking at magazines. Then I headed to David’s bridal. This I got to try one all the different styles. From there I went to bridal salons/boutiques. Found the one and the second salon I went to!
