How did you pick your wedding date?

I was asked this question the other day and then given a dirty look because the date didn't have any special meaning. I felt a little offended by the look. We choose our date because I want an outdoor wedding, and early June here in KY it's not too hot, bugs haven't made their way out yet. And there is still enough daylight to enjoy the reception.

The only other date we have that has special meaning in Jan 20. And I do not like cold weather, and don't want to be miserable on my wedding date.

In my experience, most couples choose the date for practical reasons. Fits into the busy schedules we all lead, The date is cheaper for travel plans and venues/services, Thats is ALWAYS the first thing most couples look at. Then they take those options and decide, what date out of these means the most to us? I personally Like "even" numbers, nut 2,4, 6, 8 kind of even, but middle kind of even, so my first wedding was 9/15. My second wedding, we were traveling through Vegas and last minute decided to get married. 7/3. My third wedding will be the special one. Third time is the charm ( I can plan beautiful weddings, and make something wonderful out of nothing, but I have the worst luck picking the men! I now tell myself the first 2 were Practice!!) and we will be married on our 10th Anniversary. We have been dating for 7 years so far. We will be married 4-27-2012. Gives me plenty of time to save up my wedding fund, and make my own wedding perfect!

Well since we are haveing it at the ren. faire it had to be july-first week in sept. then we didnt want it in the beging of the season so that ruled out july then we didnt want it to be the last weekend of the fair so that ruled out sept. then we wanted it on a sunday so we can do last minute things the day before and i didnt want it to fall on a birthday or anniversey of a relative so we wrote down the days that would be good in august and we both circled the same one lol (i was at work and he was at home when we did this so it had to of been a sign lol) theres no special meaning behind it other then it being my cats birthday lol

Our wedding date does not really have any special meaning to us, I pretty much picked it on my own and just kind of told him when LOL... I love summer, and I love the month of July so I just looked at the calendar and decided that the 10th would be the perfect day! he is not very happy about our date because he hates the heat and here in TX it get very hot during the summer. I really thought about doing a 10-10-10 wedding but I really did not want to wait so long to marry him. I have been waiting for 8 years now, I am so ready to do this!

Both of our birthdays are in October. The date is his parents anniversary which was important to him and getting married on a Saturday was important to me so that is how we got to 10/30/10.

I wanted to get married on New Years Eve because I thought it would be fun to bring in the new year at our wedding reception/new years eve party.

We chose january 10th of 04 (our originalwedding date) because it was exactly 1 year after we got together and just happened to fall on a saturday otherwise we would have just picked a whatever date. And now, we're planning on renewing our vows after 10 years on Friday night January 10th of 2014.

A plus about having a winter wedding is that venues and everything else tend to be cheaper since it's in less demand. The church we married at even kept up their holiday decor for us since we did not have any money for decorations. It was beautiful! white flowers and candles dressed the aisle and gold and silver accents everywhere. it was so pretty.

the date you choose may not have any significance now but it will be special from now on. Who cares what others think. Ignore the looks. Hold your head up and be proud and confident of your decisions. Smiley smile

YOUR the boss and other people are just jealous. Smiley smile

I'm happy with it! Now it's 10/09/10 which looks kinda cooL!

We picked the date based on what was available for the time frame we are looking at. The date didn't have any special meaning to us, we wanted a summer wedding and that is the date that worked for us perfectly.

I chose the 1st because it is the day that we become 1. I chose August because I want an outside wedding and the weather works out perfectly.

We originally wanted august 2010, always had my heart set on an august wedding. we went to our venue which is on the beach and the lady suggested something close to august but early september in the off season so by fate our date actually was perfect.

We picked ours because it's almost exactly between our birthdays and also because June/July is the slowest time of work for us so this was our way of making the best of it!

I wish I had a great story to tell about our selecting our wedding date--but we just picked a date that worked well with our schedules. I initially wanted something in May, June or July but it just wasn't going to work out so we decided on an October date. Now that it's set, I am really happy with it!

First and foremost the date we picked was more or less to help him remember (haha, just messing with ya). No, but seriously I picked the date due to two factors. One being 12 and 24 equal 24 and 2 for me represents him and I as a whole. Secondly, I just randomly jotted down numbers and the even digits played favorites for us. Of course odd digit dates are set up. May think on some more just for safety measures. But our hearts are set on 2.12.12.

Never mind the fact that where we are located six months out of twelve it's hurricane season. And we both agreed that the Texas heat is not one to cherish even if our even takes place in doors. It's just too darn hot!

My FH and I have been together for 8yrs. I have always wanted a fall wedding, and I always wanted my wedding to be on a saturday. October 23, 2001(high school sweethearts) is when we first met. We've been engaged for approximately 3 1/2 yrs, because we were both college students and decided to wait until we both graduated to set a date. October 23, 2009 made eight yrs that we've been together, and for an anniversary gift my FH gave be a card asking me to marry him on October 23, 2010, which is on a saturday of this year. This couldn't have worked out better. Not only will it be our wedding day, but it will be our 9th year anniversary.

We wanted to have an outside wedding on the water, so we found a venue and we wanted a friday afternoon to help save money on the venue. And they came up with Sept 3rd which happens to be a holiday weekend so family should have no problem coming to town.
