How did you pick your wedding date?

I was asked this question the other day and then given a dirty look because the date didn't have any special meaning. I felt a little offended by the look. We choose our date because I want an outdoor wedding, and early June here in KY it's not too hot, bugs haven't made their way out yet. And there is still enough daylight to enjoy the reception.

The only other date we have that has special meaning in Jan 20. And I do not like cold weather, and don't want to be miserable on my wedding date.

I think the reason you picked your date is a perfect reason! I picked August 11 because I knew the kids and teachers I know would be out of school still, it would be easier for people to travel, and I like late summer/early fall. I am thinking about changing it to my late Aunt's birthday though, and its only a week later so it doesn't change it much! Smiley smile Don't worry about other people, its your wedding!

When we first got engaged we looked at the season we wanted to get married in. We decided on spring or early summer. We knew we wanted to get married on a saturday so we then looked at saturdays. 2011 was a must because we are waiting until my FH finishes graduate school. So we looked at the numbers. We chose 6-4-11 because those numbers add up to 21 and he proposed on the 21st. Also, it is the 22 week of the year and he first asked me to be his girlfriend on the 22nd. I know that is a lot of explaining, but I think this is the only time I have been asked. Smiley smile

I needed a good 3 day weekend so I could book on a Sunday for a cheaper venue rental Smiley smile (May 29th is the day before Memorial Day).

My wedding date has no special meaning at all. I picked a tentative date in August (just because I want to get married in Summer) but my date is flexible based on venue availability. Its more important to me to have a venue of my dreams then to keep the date :-)

We've been dating over 5 years and always joked with people that we will get married before we turn 30. We selected 04/23/2011. It is the Saturday before his 30th birthday and Easter weekend. My family always has a big Easter weekend celebration(egg hunt, fish fry, crawfish boil) so most of my relatives will already be in town.

We decided on July 10 because the summer is the easiest time to get everyone together (especially when you have teachers and schoolkids in your family, and people coming from far across the US, etc). We figured the big tourist boom in DC would have died down just enough after the July 4th weekend for folks to enjoying touristy stuff, but still be able to find a flight out, etc. I can't WAIT for July!!!

I have always known i would have a summer wedding with an outdoor ceremony and reception. My fav month is July(both me and our daughter were born in the beginning of July) The weather is always fabulous here by the end of the month and we wanted a Saturday night wedding so we picked the 31st.

We chose it largely out of convenience. We didn't want to be during the college school year so more people could travel with less problem. We didn't want winter so that a blizzard wouldn't be an issue. I didn't want it to be super hot either. So we decided on 5/22/10. May is the month we met, and the 22nd isn't mother's day or labor day or graduation weekend. Smiley smile

No special reason - it was just based on weather and availability!

We decided a while back that we wanted to go to the Country Music Festival in Nashville in June. So we bought tickets and started planning the trip. We had been talking about getting engaged for a while and then he said lets go look at some rings and we ended up buying my engagement ring and our bands all at the same time. So when we started talking about a date I said well maybe we should get married before the festival and use that trip as our Honeymoon. He loved the idea and we added an extra 3 day stop to our trip (we are driving from MA to TN). So we picked our day as its the weekend before we leave for our trip. We are getting married on Sunday and leave for our Honeymoon Monday afternoon.

We have been engaged for 3 months before settling on a month....We settle on July for several reasons 1) FH usually has a slower work schedule that month 2) It's the summer the family member will have better luck finding sitters for children 3) It's the month we had the majority of our relationship milestones.

It's your & your FH decision to make....enjoy the ride

Hello! First of all you need to remember that it is YOUR wedding, so who cares when you get married?! Secondly, me and my FH did the same thing. The only time of year that is significant for us is December. But with my fiance's birthday 2 weeks before Christmas and the holidays there, we figured it may be too crazy (and I didn;t want the wedding to over shadow his birthday). So we picked a random month with no significance to us at all. We now will have a reason to celebrate in April when we never did before. Remember, you wedding WILL BE what makes the date significant.....your current significant dates will always be important too, why not make a new one with a random wedding day?

    Don't stress and enjoy!

July is when we met (the 28th to be exact). The 28th was not a option since it is in the middle of the week, so I did some research. On the 24th of July, 2009 was the day that my fiance went with my parents to go pick out my ring. We also had to work around his military schedule (he will be gone the whole month of June) I would have prefered the first weekend in June because that is when we got baptised as a couple, but July is also special. In Texas July is not a good month for weather (WAY TO HOT), so that was not a factor for us! I am also a teacher, so we can always take a vacation around out anniversary if we please!

We went with what was going to be convenient for our family. Together, we have 4 kids- two of which are still in school. We had to look at the kids calendar (if they are still in school, who's going to take them to two separate schools - NO ONE). We looked at the college schedules (we have several recent high school graduates that MUST be in the wedding). We looked at vacation schedules (didn't want to get in the way of families going off to vacation because we want them at our wedding). We looked at money (what date provides us enough time to acquire the monies needed for the wedding, but also to keep both houses running until we merge them). You know, stuff like that....LOL!!!

By the way, your date doesn't have to already be special... it will become special by the simple fact that you are getting married on it!!

We picked our date cause it was the closest date to Halloween that we could do on a Saturday.

We also always wanted a Fall wedding.
