The day we chose is the day after we met. So it will be 8 years and one day.

August is a special month for us. We started dating in August and got engaged on our anniversary. We’re not getting married on the same date as we have kids in college. We selected the earlier part of the month so nothing interfered with send offs.

Sorry to say that there's no significance to the date we chose. LOL It's certainly not the date we starting dating and made it official. Nor is it the date we got engaged. All I know is that we didn't want it in the fall or winter nor the summer so we chose spring (March 29th).

I love all things Halloween and spooky Fall fun so I knew I wanted an October wedding. The problem with that is my mom's birthday is also in October and since she has passed away I didn't want a date that was too close to her birthday or else risk it wouldn't dampen the day. I also knew I wanted it on a Saturday since our entire guest list would be flying in from out of town. We got engaged in December of 2021 and I wanted a long engagement so I enjoyed being engagement for a year and I knew I would be pushing the wedding a couple years out to allow us time for saving up, lessen the stress of planning, and to give comfortable wiggle room in selecting a date when looking for a venue.

Once I had my "must haves" I needed for the timeframe figured out (October and a comfortable distance away from my mom's birthday), I opened up the calendar, went to October and found the Saturday that fit within the parameters I had set for us. Because it was 2 years out, were able to pretty much have whatever vendor we wanted with better prices because they would give us that years rates if we were to sign.

Our is 10/31/2025 - Halloween is our favorite holiday and we just love the idea of a highly flexible dress code (i.e. allowing costumes)

    Chinese calendar- lucky day
    Late summer( golden from summer)
No significant family/ friend weddings Entire venue to ourselves when picking Thursday Decreased wedding availability=less seats to pay for( important guests will make the time) invited 375, final count 250.Thursday pricing more attractiveNo issues in booking Vendors- majority available

We choose our date for 2 reasons,
First it was close the date we were engaged. Most importantly 10-4 in military terms mean “acknowledgment & in agreement” beginning to operate as one unit.

Hello, we got engaged 2 years ago in August…I was completely caught off guard, thought it was just a date night and ended at Addison airport. There was a plane waiting, I thought we were just taking a tour when he handed me a note pad with questions for me to answer, still clueless, the pilot circles an empty field and tilted the plane…looking down there was a huge sign all lite up saying “Marry Me”! Still I was like aww that’s so cute someone put that there, he said that’s for you!!! OMG!!! Blown away!! Got back to the airport and the entire family & friends were there to celebrate! Fast forward to why it’s taken so long to plan our wedding, my mother has stage 4 heart failure and kidney failure. We’ve had many hospital stays, surgeries, close calls and last Jan she was given 6 months to live! Beating all odds, she’s still with us! #butGod
another kicker…my daughter went out of the country and got engaged, her and I are wedding planning together♥️her wedding is Nov. 2025 and mine is Sep 2025! We both just booked our venues and now we are going dress shopping together! I’m a single mom, so I’ll be giving her away and I can’t wait!
