How are you guys saving for your wedding? What are your monthly goals?

Chanieish, on January 6, 2020 at 12:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hi all!

We are 4.5 months away and are trying to aggressively save for the wedding. Smiley smile A couple of things we are doing are: traveling less - aside from the bachelorette/bachelor parties of course, cooking at home, NO MORE SHOPPING FOR ME, using the small gym in our apartment, canceled a couple of subscriptions we barely used, etc. I am hoping that by doing this I can save about $1000 a month (lofty goal haha!).

What are you doing to save? I'd like to implement some of your ideas!

Good luck and I wish you a very prosperous New Years!

When I was saving for my wedding I found a side job so the money from that was specifically set aside for the wedding

We're 7 months away from our wedding. We're saving about $2k a month for the wedding. We're eating out less, no more shopping for me as well except for bachelorette weekend dress and other small wedding details. I'm trying to stay in on my days off because if I go out, I'm gonna spend money of stuff I don't need. I'm also possibly looking for a prn job to pick up an extra shift once every 1-2 weeks. We're also getting a separate bank account to put our wedding savings in so that we don't spend it.

We started saving $800 month since last September when we got engaged. We have 1 year of this to get our goal of $10k. We are super fortunate that our parents are doing the same and paying the other half. We all made a pact of nobody going into debt. We have cut out travel/vacations completely and reduced going out to eat, but we still go out occasionally so it’s not completely miserable lol. I’ll be honest if there’s an emergency, we are screwed bc no other savings. So lots of sweating and praying. Lol. The good news we’ve already talked about continuing to save after the wedding bc now we know we can do it and we NEED to do it. Growing up lol.

We have both been working more hours in our jobs and cutting back things like eating out, wineries, travel, etc. We are hoping to have all of our vendors paid off by April for our June 27 wedding. It will be a huge weight off our shoulders once all this is accomplished.
