How are you all arranging your invites?

MrsMitch , on May 16, 2017 at 1:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 23

I have a regular 5x7 flat card (invite), details card and a rsvp card. Are most of you using a pocket fold and belly band with your invite or are you just sticking the invite, details card, and rsvp card in the addressed envelope?

I seriously don't want to spend another dime on invitations but I'm wondering if just sticking it all in an envelope kind of tacky?

Attaching a photo of my the invite design.

We just tucked the RSVP neatly under the RSVP envelope flap and put it behind our invitation. It looked lovely, not tacky.

Call me tacky but I'm just sticking everything in the envelope lol no band, no inner envelope. My invites cost one standard stamp to mail as is, and I'm not doing anything that'll up that cost. This is where I cut costs to splurge elsewhere and I have no regrets!

I think the pockets are a pretty cool idea. I am not sure if it is essential to have the belly band on it or not. I don't mind spending money on appropriate things but if I can get away with less paper I wouldn't be mad.

To be honest, I have never been invited to a wedding that had a belly band or pocketfold. I didn't even know that was a thing until I got on this site. No one will think it is tacky. Save yourself some money and do it the way you planned. Smiley smile

Are you doing inner and outer envelopes, or just outer? I think its totally fine to just put all of it in the envelope together, with the invite/biggest card on bottom, smallest card on top. If you don't like the look you could always add just the pocket or belly band. you don't have to do both if you are trying to save money.

I skipped out on the details card (just put that info on website) and did just an invite and RSVP card, with inner envelope/liner and outer envelope so no need for belly bang or pocket really.

I just threw it all in there, no belly bands or anything like that.

There's a popular invite vendor on here who posted a diagram.

So if you picture opening the envelope, the first thing you see is the RSVP card, then the RSVP envelope, the details card, and then the invitation.

@Nicole2017 that's kind of where I am right now. I know adding a pocket fold is more than likely going to up the postage. I also assume you have to purchase a belly band for the pocket fold.

We have the same invites! So pretty! I did pocket fold and belly band. I secured the invite to the middle using tape/glue dispenser I got. Sorry don't remember what that stuff is called. I also did inserts and a monogram square.

I got ribbon at Hobby Lobby for half off so it came out to about $10-$20. Nothing major in my eyes. Then we sealed them with wax seals that FH stamped with an Etsy wax stamp. But I love stationary so the invites were important to me.

We have the invite itself, RSVP card, and RSVP envelope. We will use a belly band to hold the items together--no pockets and no inner envelope.

No belly band, no ribbon, nothing. Just throwing it in and sending it away!

We used a belly band because we wanted to make sure all the pieces were taken out of the envelope when someone opened it. I made them myself.. bought grey cardstock and used a paper slicer (like $15 on amazon) to cut 1 inch pieces. Used glue dots to stick them together. My invites were already over 1 oz so it didnt add any additional postage that I wasn't already using.

We are just putting everything in the envelope. We aren't doing any pockets because we don't want to spend more $ on it that we could use elsewhere!

It's totally fine to just place them stacked neatly in the correct order inside the envelopes without anything holding them all together. This was the way it was originally done before pockets wraps and belly bands were a thing.

We're doing just belly band. Honestly, I have a habit of losing pieces of things when I get invites so a pocket or belly band is useful to keep it all together as a guest, but I couldn't justify the expense of a pocket (the pocket itself or the extra postage).

I'm with @Nicole. I didn't use belly bands or inner envelopes. I just placed the RSVP in the flap of the RSVP envelope and put it in front of the invitation. Not tacky. Cut costs where you can.

This is what I did since I didn't list everyone's names and didn't do an inner envelope. Btw, this is a draft, but you should be able to get an idea.

There's no need for pockets or a belly band if you don't want them, and tons of invitations are designed without them! This is just a style difference, not a "tacky" issue Smiley smile

ETA: This isn't even a "forgoing the extras" issue. Most higher price point invitation suites are not designed in the pocket-style. Thick card stock with engraving or letterpress should stand alone!
