Okay well today we attended a wedding , besides the fact that it was a Tuesday and almost impossible for us to take off we attended . Well it's 9:30 and we're on our way home because we are starving . All they had was a cocktail hour and a dessert bar . We stayed for cake and now we're leaving ....

Okay well today we attended a wedding , besides the fact that it was a Tuesday and almost impossible for us to take off we attended . Well it's 9:30 and we're on our way home because we are starving . All they had was a cocktail hour and a dessert bar . We stayed for cake and now we're leaving . Everyone was waiting for dinner and when someone asked the brides mother about dinner time she informed that there would not be a dinner . Please don't do this to your guests .

Total shit show. Why do some people think that it is okay to treat their guests like fourth class citizens?

I'd take 3 pieces of cake, hit a McDonald's on the way home, and bitch on WW about it. That's exhibit A for the prosecution versus poor hosting!

Every time I read one of these posts I'm still amazed at the inconsiderate and selfish "hosting" of some couples. There's no excuse for a 6pm ceremony followed by a reception with no meal provided to your guests.

Fuxking churros?! Like get out of here.

FFS you have a Tuesday wedding the least you can do is have a dam buffet or seated dinner.

    OP you're the real MVP

I would have had a different reaction if they had warned people about this before hand (but 6pm ceremony is f*cking dinner time)

Everyone anxiously awaiting food, and then no food? Rage.

I have to know, did they or the guests pay for the snack truck food? I am going to be totally peeved for y'all and their guests if they skipped serving dinner yet put money towards a damn truck at 10 PM .....

WTF is wrong with people ..... ETA: words are hard on mobile!

As much as I love churros, they don't replace DINNER. This post made me hungry....

That's so rude, have a Tuesday wedding, and don't provide any food on top of it. People have taken off work for you, the least you could do is have some real food to serve them. I would've left, too! Big Mac, pizza, or both here I come!

Okay, so I understand if your reception isn't at meal time doing a lighter menu. Like a brunch in the morning or a lighter and shorter reception for lunch. That's kind of what we are doing. It's lunch time so the focus will be the meal and just a short reception. But we are definitely having enough food for everyone!! To get married in the evening and not serve food?! This is crazy. I don't think there's any problem with getting married on a week night IMO. There could have been other factors affecting that. A friend of mine got married on a Tuesday because all her family where there that weekend for her graduation and they told her they wouldn't be able to travel OOT again for the wedding so she needed to do it the same week as grad. Crazy but it worked for her.

Hold up!!!! A Tuesday wedding in the evening and not serving dinner? Obviously, the cocktail hour didn't offer enough to hold you which is bad. I'm wondering did your invite state no dinner or only cocktails and desert......

...what, an evening wedding with no food and people were pissed? That happens? Naw...

People who don't feed their guests aren't "regional", they're people who have been raised without manners.

Smh shame on it all. My ceremony starts at 2pm. Even though its a non meal time we are STILL feeding our guests. This is a shame.

@Celia, I feel as though you have no concept of the fact that some people are poor. As in, really, really poor. What with the wealth disparity in this country, a huge portion of the population can't afford catering. That's why cake and punch receptions are traditional. Are you really saying that people without means are not allowed to celebrate their marriages with loved ones? That they should all just go to the courthouse and then go home and stare at the wall? That is BS.

You posted this at a good time because in the last few days I remember posts from brides asking if this was okay. The couple from the wedding you attended should have made it known on the invitation that dinner would not be served. I bet there were a lot of people angry.

@MsMac-there's nothing wrong with a cake and punch reception and many people here actually advocate for them. However, you cannot have a cake and punch reception at a meal time. You also cannot expect to have other bells and whistles, and then only serve cake and punch.

@MsMac I don't think I've ever seen Celia advise against cake and punch reception, I actually do think I've seen her recommend it during open church weddings. Nothing is wrong with doing that outside of meal time. And yes, people are less fortunate than others financially, I agree. However, a wedding is optional and can be as simple or as extravagant as you can afford. So yes, they can be costly, which is why you see many brides and grooms on here having long engagements and picking up second jobs to be able to afford it. You can have your wedding however you want, you just can't give your guests the shit end of the stick.

No, food. Ughhhh! We love food. We always have it even when people say they aren't hungry. I agree with the other pps, taco Tuesday would have been cool to have and affordable
